International Cooperative Beading Project
The Bead Journal Project is a year long effort on the part of 242 people in thirteen countries. The brainchild of master bead artist, Robin Atkins, the project began in June of 2007 and will run until June of 2008. The participants have made the committment to make a 'page' of beadwork each month, in an effort to stretch their artistic and crafts abilities, to work in fellowship with the group and to achieve a long term goal. Beadworkers of all levels of ability are participating and blogging about their experiences. Some participants blog regularly, some rarely, and there are numerous blogspot and flickr sites to visit to see the amazing variety of beadwork being accomplished.
Rules of the Game
2007 bead journal project
The Project was initiated by Robin Atkins with a few simple rules. There was a cut off date for sign ups, and the participants were then free to pick the size of their 'pages'. The only request was that the size stay uniform for each beader for each month's work. The amount and type of beading to be done on each page is up to the individual and the subject matter of each month is also up to each person. The overall goals are to improve one's technique and to allow each beader to explore his/her world and psyche in their own way. Growth and fellowship are the hopeful outcomes of this ambitious project.
