Finding beading shops and suppliers is a crucial part of making beading either a hobby or income earner. It pays to look around and compare prices and bead range and quality. Getting Started With Beadwork

Creating custom beadwork is a skill to be admired; however, it is not for everyone. It takes tremendous hand/eye coordination and patience to create beadwork jewelry. It is important to consider these factors before spending the time and money investing in this hobby. It is also important to consider that creating custom beadwork requires a significant amount of creativity. While many people begin by using beadwork patterns, it is important to progress to custom beadwork if you plan to sell your designs.

In the beginning, it would be a good idea to check out some craft books on beadwork or even purchase a beadwork kit to get started. These books and kits will include a beadwork pattern that can get anyone started in creating their own beadwork jewelry. These books and kits will teach the basics of beadwork as well as provide great starter projects. A great place to find these books and kits is in a specialty craft store. This way, you can purchase all the necessary equipment to get started on the projects. It can be overwhelming to begin a new hobby, and there are many costs involved to buy initial equipment. Soon you will not need to rely on a beadwork pattern to create your jewelry.

As you progress into your new hobby, you will discover that there is an entirely different world of beadworks outside of the craft store. There are even specialty stores devoted entirely to beadworks. These stores as well as online stores will sell higher-end merchandise that will allow you to truly create art. Most people begin this as a hobby and create beadwork jewelry for themselves and for friends and family as gifts. It is when friends and family adore their gifts that they tell others where they got them. Word of mouth is the strongest advertisement. At that point, it is easy to make beadworks for sale at craft fairs, flea markets, and even online. There is always a demand for custom jewelry that is well crafted.

Setting up a Beadwork Business

A beadwork artist can create a stunning work of art, using almost any object as their canvas. Beadwork is not limited to jewelry. The only limit of this art form is the one placed on it by the artist's imagination. Bead working is a skill, that many enjoy, and the variations are endless. By considering selling your beadwork, you discover the endless possibilities the craft of bead working has to offer.

Your own beading business can focus on one particular type of custom beadwork, such as jewelry, or an assortment of items such as clothing, candle holders, or lamps. There is virtually no object that cannot be adorned with beads by a beadwork artist. Displaying your custom beadwork can show a sense of pride and allow you to earn an income from putting your creations on the market. Many are making their passion profitable by opening a beadwork gallery to sell their designs or creating a web site to display their creations.

The art of bead working is a 5,000-year-old time honored tradition. Many in the United States and abroad are continuing this tradition by creating beautiful creations out of beads. If you are a bead-working enthusiast, or newcomer interested in designing custom beadwork, then viewing a beadwork gallery is a must. Not only will you be inspired, you will also be awestruck by what can be created by beads.

If you decide to make producing beadwork into a business then make sure you get your finances setup right from the beginning. I've found some great software that helps me to keep track of my stock, work out what the pricing for my finished pieces should be based on my labour and the materials used, keeps customer records, produces labels and other printed material so that I look professional, keeps track of my fave suppliers, and I can even store design ideas in it.
