Beatles Lyrics

As producer George Martin said recently: "I wouldn't have believed at the time that 40 years later I'd still be talking about the phenomenon of The Beatles."

The Beatles are the greatest pop stars of the 20th century, if we measured it on purely commercial and popularity success. Their impact will probably remain unsurpassed if we realize what changes they brought in the music industry (recording techniques, marketing and songwriting). They simply changed the face of popular music. It is as well to remember that they have been 17 times No. 1.

John Lennon

John Lennon's assertive rhythm guitar.

Born: October 9, 1940, Liverpool, England
Died: December 8, 1980, New York, United States of America

John Lennon: With his tortured psyche John was the most enigmatic band leader ever known. Thanks to him, the band expanded their horizons - until they splitted.

Those two quotes out of many, many more, tells us a lot about the late John Lennon: "My role in society, or any artist's or poet's role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell the people how to feel. Not as a preacher, note as a leader, but as a reflection of us all", and "You don't need anybody to tell you who you are or what you are. You are what you are".

John Lennon was shot in front of his apartment complex in New York. He was in the process of releasing another album"Milk and Honey". John died of the age of 40 in the Roosevelt Hospital on December 8, 1980 (he received multiple gun shot in the back).

John Lennon created the Beatles and with Paul, Ringo and George, they made great music together. John was a leader and always fought for peoples right. He cared for other people. He was a great music writer and an excellent pop artist. He will never ever be replaced by anybody.

On 18 June 2006, McCartney celebrated his 64th birthday, as in "When I'm Sixty-Four." Paul Vallely noted in The Independent: "Paul McCartney's 64th birthday is not merely a personal event. It is a cultural milestone for a generation. Such is the nature of celebrity, McCartney is one of those people who has represented the hopes and aspirations of those born in the baby-boom era, which had its awakening in the Sixties."

Ringo Starr

Ringo Starr's slaphappy no-rolls drumming.

Ringo Starr was born on July seventh, 1940.

Ringo Starr: His monotone vocals made "Yellow Submarine" and "Octopus's Garden" classics. As the world's most famous drummer he had more up his sleeve:acting and touring with his own band.

What they said about him:
"Ringo is Ringo, that's all there is to it. And he's every bloody bit as warm, unassuming, funny, and kind as he seems. He was quite simply the heart of the Beatles." - John Lennon.

Ringo's just a lad. Everybody always loved him. And now that he's all dried out, he's just a lovable, interesting, intelligent bloke." - Paul McCartney

"Playing without Ringo is like driving a car on three wheels. - George Harrison

George Harrison

George Harrison's rockabilly-style guitar leads.

Born: February 24, 1943 in Liverpool, England
Died: November 29, 2001 of cancer in Los Angeles, United States. He was aged 58.

George Harrison was a popular British songwriter and musician, best known as a member of The Beatles and as "the quiet Beatle too". George Harrison grew from a shy kid into an expressive songwriter facinated with life and the pursuit of cosmic balance.

His former band-mate Sir Paul McCartney said: "I am devastated and very very sad. We knew he'd been ill for a long time. "He was a lovely guy and a very brave man and had a wonderful sense of humour. He is really just my baby brother."

Fellow Beatle Ringo Starr paid tribute to Harrison, telling the UK Press Association: "We will miss George for his sense of love, his sense of music and his sense of laughter."

Lennon's widow Yoko Ono paid tribute to Harrison, who she said brought magic to the lives of those who knew him."George has given so much to us in his lifetime and continues to do so even after his passing, with his music, his wit and his wisdom." "His life was magical and we all felt we had shared a little bit of it by knowing him. "Thank-you George, it was grand knowing you".
