Investigating Miss Potter
Reasons to love Beatrix Potter
Could her Wikipedia picture be more somber? It makes you wonder if they ever read any of her stories. When I think of Beatrix Potter, I think of color and laughter and even love. She belongs to sunny fields of wildflowers, streams full of intelligent fish and even talking animals. What child isn't glad that Peter Rabbit can be naughty and still have everything come out all right in the end? At the same time, parents are glad that his actions had consequences. Miss Potter was able to do both while weaving delightful stories.
As much as she lived with a vivid imagination, Beatrix Potter carved out a niche for herself in a "Man's World". Because she embraced what to others probably seemed odd, she earned respect for her talents and enriched the lives of millions of children in the process.
Beatrix Potter at a Glance
Helen Beatrix Potter (July 28, 1866 ? December 22, 1943) was an English author, illustrator, mycologist and conservationist who was best known for her best-selling children's books that featured animal characters, such as Peter Rabbit.
Born into a privileged household, Potter was educated by governesses and grew up isolated from other children. She had numerous pets and, through holidays spent in Scotland and the Lake District, developed a love of landscape, flora and fauna, all of which she closely observed and painted. Her parents discouraged her intellectual development as a young woman,...

I have all the books and love Potter collectibles. I currently have everything stored in tubs but soon hope to get a lighted curio cabinet for a proper display. This is a great lens and a great tribute to one of my favorite children's authors. 5 Stars !!!

My grandmother had a collection of Beatrix Potter stories on her shelf. My sister and I love to have Gramma read the stories to us but my favorite part was the illustrations. Sometimes we would make up other stories about Peter Cottontail and his family imagining what they would be doing the day after the story ended or the next week or the week before.

in reply to susannaduffy Thanks for the comment. If you need to take a break from the holiday rush, be kind to yourself and rent this movie. You won't be disappointed and it will make Beatrix Potter come alive to you. Renee Zellweger was perfect for the part.

I didn't see the film but obviously I should have! I grew up on Potter and gave them to my own children. I also associate her with "colour and laughter "

I love her books. One of my friends decorates her home with Beatrix Potter books, art, stuffed animals, etc. Her husband even built a Beatrix Potter-inspired vegetable patch in the backyard. Lovely lens... I'm featuring it on my Squid Angel Diary.
