A 19th century naturalist silvered bronze casket signed Auguste Cain
A silvered bronze casket signed by Auguste Cain (1821-1894) topped with a pheasant, with two handles and four legs made of tree branches. Of the two main sides, oval niches are decorated on one hand with two rabbits and the other three partridges. The box is richly decorated with branches and mulberry fruit and nut trees. All the decorative elements of this box are in high relief which gives much life to this casket. It is very representative of the Romantic movement, which in addition to its influence on the sculpture aimed on the portrait and the treatment of certain types of subjects, promotes the emergence of a particular genre: the animal sculpture.
Vintage Post Card Easter Greetings Pink Tin with Eggs, Dove and Forget-me-nots
Darling vintage unsigned Clapsaddle postcard featuring a candy tin filled with eggs and blue flowers. This International Art Pub. litho has a divided back and has not been postally used. There is a name written on the back and it is circa 1910. The card is embossed, it has gold accenting with just a touch of wear and is in excellent condition.
A Charm of Finches
Stunning Czechoslovakian Glass Peacock Lamp
This lamp is amazing!! It never ceases to draw comment. When I purchased it in England I was told that it was actually French from the early part of the 20th Century. One of the first ever electrified lamps. This makes sense as Louis Comfort Tiffany had taken Paris by storm in 1892, when he displayed his Four Seasons window, which depicts a magnificent peacock,(in exactly the same position as the one on this lamp), surrounded by a stunningly beautiful stained glass tail.
This lamp is large, measuring 17 1/2 tall (18 1/2" when on its marble base) x 15" wide. The peacock itself is cast metal with a painted bronze finish. The tail support is also metal with more of a brass finish. The Czechoslovakian crystal bead work has been carried out using clear, topaz, emerald and sapphire coloured crystal beads.
Antique Epergne Glass and Carved Black Forest Swan stand
A Victorian articulated dark beauty!
Wonderful and rare antique Victorian epergne . The stand is a majestic hand carved swan. A superb intricate hand carving of the feathering! The swan's neck is articulated, you can change the position as you desire! Lovely head with glass eyes and red beak.
The epergne is made of fine hand engraved glass.
A great decorative piece!
