What To Look For In a Beautiful, Inexpensive Violin For Beginners

Tips on what you REALLY need and what you REALLY don't

Beautiful Inexpensive Violin for BeginnersBuying your first violin can be overwhelming! So many different styles..so many bells and whistles..how do you determine what you will REALLY need as a beginner?

You DON'T need a professional violin yet. These are hand-crafted using expensive wood and parts in order to make a unique instrument with exceptional tone quality. Do NOT let the sales person try to talk you into this! None of these are necessary when you are first learning how to play the violin.

DO Buy a "STUDENT" Violin - When purchasing a violin make sure the model you get is considered a "student" violin. Student violins are manufactured by machine, use average types of wood and are laquer sprayed by machines. This makes the violin MUCH more cost effective for you!

Speaking of inexpensive, learning to play the violin doesn't have to be expensive either. If you are considering paying for expensive private violin lessons, I would encourage you to check out MyViolinForBeginners.com. This video violin lesson series is inexpensive and can really give you or your child the edge you need to improve violin playing skills quickly!

What about the SIZE of my Beautiful Inexpensive Violin for Beginners?

A guide to determine what size violin you wil need

When you pick your violin, it is important that you get the right size you need. In order to determine what size violin you or your child will need, you will need a tape measure and the violin student's arm. You can get a good idea by measuring the child's outstretched arm from neck to mid-palm measured in inches.

The following chart will then identify the correct size for your student: It is always better to round up to the next size if you are between sizes so that you get a longer use out of your student violin before you need to trade it in for a larger size.

I agree with poutine. My parents bought my violin for me when I was in elementary school. The violin was cheap cuz it was originally made for renting to schools to use. Now I am playing with an expensive violin.
