What To Look For In a Beautiful, Inexpensive Violin For Beginners
Tips on what you REALLY need and what you REALLY don't
Buying your first violin can be overwhelming! So many different styles..so many bells and whistles..how do you determine what you will REALLY need as a beginner? You DON'T need a professional violin yet. These are hand-crafted using expensive wood and parts in order to make a unique instrument with exceptional tone quality. Do NOT let the sales person try to talk you into this! None of these are necessary when you are first learning how to play the violin.
DO Buy a "STUDENT" Violin - When purchasing a violin make sure the model you get is considered a "student" violin. Student violins are manufactured by machine, use average types of wood and are laquer sprayed by machines. This makes the violin MUCH more cost effective for you!
Speaking of inexpensive, learning to play the violin doesn't have to be expensive either. - I agree with poutine. My parents bought my violin for me when I was in elementary school. The violin was cheap cuz it was originally made for renting to schools to use. Now I am playing with an expensive violin.
