Primeval forest Sumik
It is a highly secured forest preserve, which extends over 15 hectares and in which no tree has ever been cut down. It has been preserved because of its location, the inaccessible and steep slopes of Lobnica. In 1967 it was protected as a special-purpose forest: the only Slovene primeval forest on silicate ground and one of scarce remnants of Pohorje's natural vegetation. Lobnica is one of Pohorje's bigger streams. Its spring is under the peak Klopni vrh near the pond Falski ribnik. From the spring to the mouth (where it pours into the river Drava) it drops over 1000 meters. At the beginning the drop is smaller and it notably increases in the area of the primeval forest. There it creates many rapids and two waterfalls: Veliki Sumik (Big Murmur) and Mali Sumik (Little Murmur). The Veliki Sumik waterfall is 36 meters tall and it is the tallest waterfall on a non-carbonate surface in Slovenia. Its width and amount of water make it very picturesque. 400 meters below it is the Mali Sumik waterfall, which is 9 meters tall. In the past the Lobnica valley was very important for the development of economic activity. It was the valley of sawmills and watermills, through it ran the Rus1e or Lobnica water trail, glassmaking and forging were also quite developed.Source: mturist.si

How to reach the Primeval forest and waterfalls?
- from the direction of Maribor head along the river Drava valley to Ruse, from Ruse head towards Smolnik. Two kilometres ahead, after the turning for Gornjak, on the left side of the road is a signpost showing the way to the waterfalls or- from the direction of Maribor go through Hoce up to Areh, from where there leads a local path to Sumik.
Then on the marked path from the flatland of Sumik and Pri Bajgotu, a pleasant excursion point with nice places to rest, which is located by the confluence of the streams Crnava and Majland, from which the Lobnica stream originates. To the primeval forest there is now only a thirty-minute walk!

The Castle Statenberg
Statenberg is a two-storey Baroque manor with a garden, built on an elevation with a view above the settlement of Makole. It was an original design and was constructed in one stroke. Count Ignaz Maria Attems had it built before 1697. The symmetrically designed Baroque manor is comprised of a basic wing and three lower wings that gradually form a kind of frame around the interior courtyard. Inside, a small Baroque garden was arranged. The lower, entrance wing has a wide entrance hall from the courtyard side, decorated with rich stuccowork that continues into the axis of the main wing and into the portal towards the road. On the left and right are smaller residential areas, where the remains of the fittings and furniture have been preserved.Across the yard and two flights of stairs, the premises turn into a painted representational two-storey hall of the central wing of the manor. Allegories on the ceiling of the hall, framed with the stuccowork, illustrate ancient mythology - Science and Arts under the wings of peace and the four elements: air, earth, water and fire. According to less dependable data, Joseph S. Sereni, Jozef Quadri and the painter Joannecky are considered to be among the authors. In the side areas are some quality ovens and parts of presentational fittings. In the west wing of the building there is a Baroque chapel. The altars for it were made by Martin Baselij. After World War II the manor was renovated and then again after 1989. The new owners have left the interior severely neglected.
A garden was arranged around the manor in Baroque style. Later the area was rearranged in English landscape style. The scheme has been partly preserved. The north access path is planted with a chestnut promenade. At the edge of the plateau by the manor, the axis levels out and leads to the north wing of the manor. The inner courtyard is a partly reconstructed parterre with six fields outlined by sandy paths. The larger fields are rimmed with box trees. The axis by the south wing of the manor is finished off with a belvedere, which concludes the whole complex as a viewing point above the valley. By the side wings, there are smaller patches of grass planted in regular shapes. On the west side of the manor, there is a small level area where tall trees grow. The wider area of the park is planted with native and non-native trees. Wavy paths wind through them. On the west the park area leads into the forest, where there are several ponds. The park has been partly reconstructed. The manor, park and wider surroundings have been preserved as the regional park Statenberg.

About The Vintgar gorge

This ravine in the immediate vicinity of Gorje, approximately 4 km north- west of Bled, was discovered by Jakob Zumer, the Major of Gorje, and the cartographer and photographer Benedikt Lergetporer in February 1891. The discovery was accidental and took place at a time when the water level of the Radovna river which flows through Vintgar was very low. They started their exploration in Spodnje Gorje and headed towards Blejska Dobrava. They made it through, the otherwise impassable ravine with great difficulty and discovered so much natural beauty that they decided to establish a construction committee. The gorge was arranged for visits, especially for visitors to Bled. It was opened to the public on 26th August 1893. The 1. 6 km long Vintgar gorge carves its way through the vertical rocks of the Hom and Bort hills and is graced by the Radovna with its waterfalls, pools and rapids. The path leads you over bridges and sumer's galleries, and ends with a bridge overlooking the mighty 16 m high Sum waterfall. Due to its natural beauty, Vintgar was classified among the more important tourist sights in Slovenia and the number of visitors increases every year. From the %u0160um waterfall you can take the opportunity of walking up a picturesque footpath through Hom to St. Catherine- a historical church with a beautiful view. At the entrance, and at the Sum waterfall there are cafes serving refreshments. Access by car and buses is possible as far as the parking area in front of the entrance to the ravine.

Valley of 7 Triglav lakes
The Triglav Lakes Valley is an Alpine valley situated between Bohinj and Trenta, with lakes that were formed in watertight sediment depressions at the mighty fault line of the Slatna plate. It is approximately 8 km long. The valley has strong karstic features and here we virtually meet all forms of karstic weathering in the Alps. There is also reddish Jurassic rock, in which fossils can be found.Despite the valley sometimes being referred to as the Seven Lakes Valley, some of the lakes more resemble pools of water. There have been many discussions about the number of lakes and pools in the Triglav Lakes Valley; since some of them dry out repeatedly, we therefore do not consider them to be lakes. 'Seven' is the number referred to most often, and this is a convenient number which stems from folk tradition.
The first lake-the Lake under Vrsac or the Lake at Podstenje (1,993 m above sea level)-remains frozen during the summer. Little in the way of vegetation thrives in this environment. Lichens are found here for the most part. The Pool in Lastah at Prehodavci, which often disappears during the summer months is just south of the first lake and is located just beneath the Zasavje cottage.
The Brown Lake, which is the second Triglav lake, is just south of the Pool in Lastah at Prehodavci, and is 150 m long, 100 m wide and up to 10 m deep.
The Green Lake is found in a flat cavity nearby; its name stems from its algae content and slight greenish tint.
The fourth lake has a length of 300 m, a width of 120 m and a depth of up to 15 m and is the biggest and deepest Triglav lake. As a result, it is called the Great Lake (1,830 m above sea level) or the Lake at Ledvica. The vegetation is richer here due to the abundance of water.
The fifth and sixth lakes are referred to as the Double Lake (1,685 m above sea level and aquamarine in colour). The Triglav Lakes Cottage is located here.
The seventh lake, known as the Black Lake, got its name because of its location in a cavity in the middle of the forest. It is the warmest of the seven lakes, due to its relatively low altitude (1,319 m). It has a length of 150 m, a width of 80 m and a depth of up to 6 m.
Water is discharged into the Soca Valley and the Adriatic Sea from the highest Lake under Vrsac. All the other lakes are connected to one another. Water flows into the Sava Bohinjka River and then continues on towards the Black Sea.

- This is probably the most beautiful Triglav approach. It is quite long and quite tough to go one way in one day, both ways impossible. The best way to do it is to sleep in of the huts along the way.
