Beautiful Moments To Make You Feel Good And Happy

This is a feel good lens to show that life is about much more than making money.

With Valentines Day rushing up on us I thought that it would be good to have a place to reflect on the beautiful moments in our lives.

I would like to make it as interactive as possible so I hope that other people are going to join in and share their beautiful moments.

It may be about people, pets, wild animals, beautiful scenery, a great meal or anything else that made you feel good, special and excited to be alive.

Start Off Gently

This is exciting because I don't know where this lens is going to go.

I thought it would be best to start off nice and easily with geography just to give you a chance to get involved and share.

Favourite Cities In the World

I love the countryside and wildlife but ther is something exciting about a few very special cities that have a unique flavour and atmosphere.

In March 2007 we treated ourselves to a safari holiday in Zambia and Botswana and many moments will live in my memory for ever but the most thrilling morning was at the Kwando Kwara camp in the Okavango Delta.

It was our turn to have a ride in a mokoro, a little canal and go through the narrow waterways of the Delta.

We had to drive to the mokoros and we discovered leopard tracks. Leopards are extremely shy and the hardest of the popular animals to see.

Our guide gave us the option of what we wanted to do. We had seen lions and cheetahs the previous day so we were all very keen on the idea of bagging a leopard as well.

We found did find the leopard, strolling through the long grass and I took a couple of snaps as evidence. But she was walking to a little mound with a tree and posed. We snapped. She jumped into the tree and lay on a branch, we snapped. She climbed further up and sat on the very top, we snapped.

The we went for our mokoro trip - another very special time.

Gina, my Italian Spinone lifts my heart every time we have been apart with her enthusiastic welcome and her pleasure at seeing me.

Before we go out for a walk she gets really excited, barking, jumping up and twisting and she bounces off the front door. She rushes up to it, raises her front paws and pushes off like an Olympic swimmer to dash back along the hall into the kitchen.

Then I open the front door and in complete contrast to the mad frenzy, everything goes into slow motion as we start stalking cats who don't know she's coming.

For some strange reason, there has never been a cat for her to surprise and she doesn't understand why.

My husband and I adopted a pup from the humane society that was a female mixture of black lab and german sheppard. We named her Nikki. And for 17 1/12 years she was the joy of our lives. She was not one who liked to be petted or liked to snuggle. She just liked to be there. The one thing that we really got a laugh about was that every time she wanted our attention, and if we happened to be watching the television, she would casually walk over to the TV and sit down right smack dab in front of the middle of the screen staring at us, until we had no choice but to ask her what she wanted. And 99% of the time she would be looking for a treat of some sort, or looking to go outdoors to "take care of business". To this date everytime I watch TV I think back about how our Nikki would converse with us in her own way and bring laughter into our lives. I still miss her very much.

I have always loved penguins so one of the draws about going to South Africa was being able to see penguins in the warmth at Boulders Bay near Cape Town.

The first year we went as day trippers and it is all beautifully organised as you walk along the boards and you see so many penguins close up. The problem was the coach loads of other tourists.

Our next trip we decided to stay in Boulders Bay and see what happened out of hours.

Boulders Bay Beach is the public beach with huge boulders sheltering a sandy beach.

Since it is open to the sea the penguins do have access but they usually keep away when it is packed with people.

But get there before seven o'clock in the morning and it is different. Just a beautiful beach, a few penguins, an occasional dassie and you.

Absolutely magic and a great way to start a day.

    YouTube Videos On Safari

I love safaris and I haven't edited any of my videos but here are a few from YouTube which will let you share in the experience.

OK the penguin video isn't on Safari but it does give you an idea of what it is like.

      Hi Paul,
Saw your post on Facebook mentioning this lense. Haven't explored Squidoo yet. This looks interesting.

I live in the most beautiful part of the world - on the east coast of South Africa. And am blessed to spend my time in the early morning walking on the beach instead of commuting to work in heavy traffic.

I've taken hundreds of photos of the beauty around me. Mainly seascapes and flowering plants. My bliss is to wander around with my camera and capture a moment. One evening inspired by the words of a Navajo Prayer, I made my first little video called 'Delightful' and posted it on YouTube. I felt good creating it and hope that's how you'll feel after watching it.

I think you've seen it - yes - maybe you'll post it here so others can enjoy too.

      Counting my blessings,
      Tina
