Beauty of Glass Tiles

When choosing glass tiles for a kitchen or bathroom, you have tons of options. Some shops can offer interior design ideas for the different sizes and colors they carry, or you can play around with different ideas you've picked up yourself. You can select a variety of sizes from very small to very large, and it's likely you can find almost any color or pattern you could want.

You can look at magazines and decorating books to get started, or let your own personal interior design ideas guide you in choosing tiles. Do you want to go with a unified color scheme? In many bathroom designs, colored glass tiles along the back splash mimic the wall color or coordinate with the bath linens. For example, blue walls and navy tiles would lend themselves well to a color scheme involving shades of blue, white, and cream for a look that's pulled together but not monochromatic.

If you like to dramatically change up your color schemes on a regular basis, using a single color in the tiles might not work so well; for example, if you had red tiles and then decided to buy purple towels, the room would clash with itself. If you like to change up your color schemes often, consider multi-colored, moving color glass tiles, or patterned tiles, or stick to neutral glass tiles. This would give you the option of using different accent colors in the rest of the room without clashing with the tile colors.

Since kitchen design is equal parts aesthetics and function, and the work area needs to be easy to clean, it can be difficult to incorporate art or color into the room. Glass tiles look great along a back splash or along the back of a counter and are easy to clean, so they're a functional way to dress up the cooking area.

Another great kitchen design option is a countertop made of glass tiles. You can make a bold statement with multi-colored tiles, choose several different solid-colored tiles and create a pattern, or mix solid and patterned tiles for a completely unique countertop.
