Of course, you do not want to attend the wedding or even earlier meetings in a Fairy Godmother costume. But a piece of jewelry or belt buckle can state your position quite clearly.

Business cards and flyers are a must! You can create your own flyers on your computer.
Deliver flyers and business cards to all wedding shops in your area. Participate in Wedding Fairs and community events.

Add a magic wand ! Always carry a beautiful magic wand with you on appointments. You want people to remember that you are the very magical Fairy Godmother who can solve all emergencies on wedding day!

Every Fairy Godmother needs a well-supplied emergency box. This box should include scissors, needle and thread, safety pins, scotch tape, stapler, pens, paper, telephone list of all wedding suppliers and attendants, mouthwash, crackers, water, and anything else you think might be needed. Add a stash of over-the-counter meds -- pain reliever, acid suppresant, other tummy meds. Better to have these available than not! A big picnic basket works well for this! In fact, a fishing tackle box works quite well.

Remember, you will write your own job description and contract with your employer for services. These are just ideas:
1. Address invitations.
2. Address envelopes for thank you notes.
3. Keep track of gifts and notes written.
4. Assist bride and mother-of-bride staying on task with deadlines. Use telephone or e-mail to send reminders.
5. Arrive at wedding at least 2 hours early. Check all arrangements and details. Have picnic basket full of emergency items.
6. Keep full list of telephone numbers - florist, baker, wedding party members, key family members.

This job description could also fit for a fairy godmother to new moms - who needs a Fairy Godmother more? Whew!

Or senior citizens -- for trips to the grocery, the doctor, to visit friends.

How about "just moved into the community" or "moving out of the community"?
