1. Tell yourself you are a leader. This is important because one of the keys to becoming a great leader is to believe that you are one even before you are a leader.

2. Read books and articles and listen to audio recordings on becoming a great leader. John Maxwell and Stephen Covey are two of the best.

3. Set leadership goals. Know what you need to do and what you need to improve on as well as what you are already doing well.

4. Always continue to work on being a great leader and never stop.

    I believe the keys to being seen as a great leader are (1) working on your own leadership presence, knowhow and skill (2) having followers who really want to follow you (3) having the right values, style and skills for the situation (4) leading at the right time (5) your results (actual or perceived). Of these five, the only one we can fully control is #1... so in effect that becomes the key: working on yourself. AnnaLaura, if you are interested I expand on this in my lens "Leadership: How To Be A Good Leader".
