The Unofficial Guide to Becoming an Amazon Vine Member
Ever heard of the Amazon Vine program? It's a great reason to become an avid, quality reviewer at amazon.com. Amazon vine is an e-mail invite-only program that gifts pre-release products to reviewers in return for their review! Becoming part of the program is never a sure thing as space is limited and amazon is secretive about the qualifications required, but here are a few things that all amazon vine reviewers have in common. If nothing else, these tips should help you write better reviews!
Top 5 Things You Can Control
Become an Amazon Vine Member!
You can't simply join amazon vine.
- Clear and Copious. Review items whenever possible - that is, when you buy a product from amazon always review it! There are few vine members with under 100 reviews completed.
- Make sure that your reviews are of an excellent quality. Many vine members are authors, bloggers, and dedicated hobbyists that write well, so collect your thoughts and write professionally!
- Review books, not just gizmos! Remember when amazon started? Maybe you do, maybe you don't, but their specialty was books back in the day. They love people that are into books! So when you're writing 100+ reviews to qualify, make sure that you're writing some reviews about good ol' books too!
- Be honest. Most amazon vine members have over a 75% positive feedback rate on their comments. That means that when asked whether their comment was helpful or not, on average 75% or more said YES! So be honest about your experience with the product and make sure that you actually own it or have used it!
- Loyalty and Consistency You're not going to become an amazon vine member overnight. It takes a lot of dedication and even one to two years of consistently reviewing items you purchase. So get to it and stick with it.
How does the amazon Vine program work?
Once you're in to the Amazon Vine program you are allowed to select 4 products a month. No member receives more than this, no one receives less. 2 of the products you select must be from a list that is supposedly tailored to your interests (probably products from a category that you frequently purchase from) and the other 2 products come from a much longer list that includes products from all departments. Of the 4 products you receive, your must review 3 of them. This means that Amazon enforces a 75% rule - you must review 75% of the products that you have in your possession at all times. As far as keeping the products goes, Amazon technically reserves the right to take back the products at anytime, but I have never heard of them doing so. Most importantly, Amazon insists that these products are not resold - especially those that are presale books or other gadgets. Amazon (obviously) kicks people out of the program for stuff like this without hesitation.
