This is the best option for someone who wants to be able to sit in bed and read or watch TV without experiencing back pain.

This product is sturdy, bulkier, and heavier than it may appear in the picture. This is helpful on one hand, because it provides more support. But this does make storing it and adjusting it more difficult. Also, some people prefer softer.

It is hypoallergenic and made from 100% cotton. Unfortunately it does not have a removable and washable cover, so you'll have to fashion one of your own with a sheet or find a way to clean its surface.

If you can afford to spend more, you might want to get the adjustable Bedlounge. Its dimensions are 22 inch height by 25 inch width by 21 inch depth. It was designed to provide ergonomic support to the neck, back, and arms. It can be used in bed or on the floor.

What makes the Bed Lounge nice is that it is adjustable. Both the head rest and the lumbar pillow adjust so that you can get proper support. The lumbar pillow is filled with feather down. This product also uses foam and pillowy combed fiber.

Another nice thing about the BedLounge is the pocket, where you can store books or the TV remotes. It comes in fleece or cotton twill and the fabric slipcover is removable and machine washable. It retails for $184, but currently costs less than $130 on Amazon.

If you want your pillow to be a bit more colorful, consider the Brentwood Poodle Bedrest. It's similar to the original in design, but the exterior makes it great for tweens, teens, and college students. It is a full adult size at 18" x 26" x 18", but kids can still enjoy leaning against it as they read in bed or play on a laptop.

It is filled with a mix of rayon and poly cotton. The surface is 100% polyester. The cover isn't removable so it will need to be spot cleaned if something is spilled on it. It comes in four colors: turquoise, lime, pink, and lilac. It costs less than $30.

The most feature-filled of all of the bed rest pillows is the foldable massaging back rest from Homedics. The Homedics BRF-2L Foldable Massaging Back Rest will massage your back as you sit in bed. It has a cup holder for your tea or coffee and side pockets for your magazines or remote controls. It is firm enough to be supportive. Another plus is that it folds up for storage, so you can slide it under your bed when you are not using it. It has an LED reading light, but it is fairly dim so you'll probably use a bedside lamp instead if you need light.

If you are tall, you might want to avoid this as it is better suited for short people. Another negative is that it doesn't have an AC adapter. If you are using the massage function a lot you will be going through batteries quickly (might want to invest in rechargables). It retails for $80 and is probably not worth that much. However, Amazon is selling it right now for less than $50, which makes it a much better deal.
