Bedroom Budget Decorating

The world of interior design and home decorating can be very confusing and very expensive. That simple is not true. Find out how you can relieve the stress and not break the piggy bank with excellent results. We will show you how.

My wife and I have decorated many of our residences and always on a budget. We hope some of these ideas can help you make wonderful changes TODAY.

Bedroom Decorating Tips For Everyone-Simple -Easy-Low Cost

My wife and I have decorated many interiors over the years involving houses and condos we have lived in as our primary residences. I would like to share some of the lessons and knowledge we have learned in hopes that they may help you to save time and money.

The first thing is not to be over whelmed with interior design, you are the best designer for you, not the interior design books, or even friends. No one knows better than you what you like and what really makes you feel comfortable. Do not get stressed, start small with one room. Let's start with the bedroom, this is where you will spend some of your most important time and it must be peaceful, calm, your private space away from the rest of the world.

Take out a notebook and list some of your favorite colors. Then place a few descriptive words next to each color as to how that color makes you feel. (ie. red-excited, angry, full of energy--blue-peaceful, calm, relaxed) and so forth. The most inexpensive way to make a dramatic change is to repaint the room in the color that is peaceful and calm with some excitement. You can use one wall, a smaller one, for an accent contrast color that will give the room the excitement you desire. Make sure the paint is NON-TOXIC and can be easily cleaned.

Learn How To Use Accessories You Already Have, In A New Way

The next step is to remove all of the accessories and place them in a box in another room. You will later pick out one item at a time to add back with a much more discernible eye than you ever realized you possessed. Now lets take a look at the bed. The most inexpensive way to obtain a totally new look is to change the headboard or add a headboard. You can obtain a good quality upholstered headboard for under $200 from Skyline Furniture and there are websites that do handle this product line. You can even replace your entire bed with a new upholstered bed for much less than you think. The costs are around $450-$485 from Skyline. Skyline Furniture is a family owned and operated business located in the USA with a success history that spans many years. They make upholstered headboards and upholstered beds with many designs and fabric choices.

Now that you have a newly painted bedroom and a new headboard or bed, you can start to add one accessory at a time back into the bedroom out of your box. Take your time with this process and make sure you now really like the look of the accessory after it has been placed. You must avoid clutter and must leave items in the box that do not really accent your new room. You can now look at other rooms in your home to see if there are items that will make a better statement than those in your box. The items left in your box, and there should be some, can be sold at a garage sale or donated.

I really hope you have found this little bit of information helpful.

More Budget Decorating Tips

type=textBudget Tip : Headboard Door

A great way to make a headboard really feel like a piece of furniture is to use a door. Find an old door at a flea market, thrift store, salvage yard, or anywhere else you can get one for cheap. Sand and paint the door, or keep in its original old style for extra charm and character. Make sure to remove the knob. When you're ready to mount, just turn it on its side (knob side toward the bottom) and attach to the wall. Next time you come across an old door, snatch it up for this simple DIY headboard idea.

Budget Tip : Lined Lampshade

Lighting on a budget doesn't mean plain and boring. With a little creativity there is a lot you can do without forking over the big bucks. Add new life to a plain lampshade with a pretty lining that lights up with each flip of the switch. Start by making a template. Remove your shade and wrap it around kraft paper. Mark the top and bottom edges as well as where the paper ends meet. Then cut out your template. Trace the template onto decorative paper or fabric, and cut out. Attach the liner to the inside of your shade along the top and bottom edges using clear double-stick tape. Make sure to use a 40-watt bulb or lower for your new lamp. Lighting on a budget never looked so good.

Budget Tip of the Day: Sweater Pillows

Instead of throwing out or giving away a sweater you no longer wear, put it to good use and turn it into a cozy pillow. These are perfect for snuggling up to and for adding another layer of texture to your space. Big name stores charge a lot for these pillows, but you can shop in your closet and make it for free. The front and back of the sweater should give you enough to cover your pillow. Just measure and cut 2 pieces, leaving an extra inch for the seams. Turn the tops over so they are facing each other and then sew around all 4 sides, leaving just enough room to stuff your insert in. Hand stitch the opening and you're done. Who knew you had a free pillow in your closet?! Don't have a sweater you're willing to part with? Pick one up at a thrift store for a few dollars instead.
