You can get an idea of the minimal skill level needed to install a closet organizer kit by viewing a video of basic closet organizer installation. This will give allow you to decide if you have the basic skills that are necessary to install the organizer yourself. Tools You'll Need to Install a Closet Organizer System
- Tape measure - It should be at least 8' in length so you can measure properly.
- Stud finder - This is a very handy and necessary tool to find the studs in the closet walls. You will need to attach anchors on these studs to support the closet organizer.
- Power Drill - You will need to drill holes to mount the anchors or tracks on the wall of the closet.
- Drill Bit - You will need a 5/16" drill bit to drill anchor holes.
- Phillips Screwdriver - Have a phillips screwdriver bit for your power drill. This will make the installation quick and easy.
- Pencil - To make sure you mark where to drill.
- Level - To make sure everything is level and that you are installing the rail system correctly.
- Patience - The most necessary tool in your box. Take your time and check your measurements twice before you drill or cut anything. Make sure that everything is square. The first track you install on the wall is the most critical one. That is where everything will be installed from. Make sure that the first piece you attach to the wall is in the exact right spot. It will make your job much easier. Take your time and it will be a very easy install.
