Easy Recipe for Healthy Delicious Beefburgers

Beefburgers are cheap and so easy to make yourself - they don't need to be junk food when you have control of the ingredients.

I like to show recipes which help beginners to prepare good basic food and turn it into a mouth-watering meal. Mindful of people's busy lives, my recipes are quick and easy to prepare - nothing fancy or complicated, just tasty, plain fare.

Why beginners? Because when I married at 20 I couldn't even boil an egg, and I know from experience that lots of people, especially those who have just left home, find cooking daunting.

Before You Start, Make Sure You Have All the Ingredients for the Beefburgers and Whatever you are Serving with them

Equipment for making Beefburgers

The main utensil is a grill or pan

EQUIPMENT:
Large Grill Pan
Mixing bowl
Spoon for stirring
Chopping board for shaping burgers

Important!

Important: Ensure Everything is Ready at the Same Time -

- Make up a salad before you start, or whilst the burgers are cooking

- Prepare the buns or French bread by slicing them up

- Ensure the chips will be ready at the same time as the burgers (use a packet of frozen oven chips - they are good and predictable)

Life is Much Easier if you Have a Food Processor

I use my Food Processor almost every day. it does so many things

It can grate, slice things thick or thin, mix pastry and thick things, and blend things like soup, puree or pate.

Ingredients For Beefburgers for 4 or 5 people

Assemble the Beefburger Ingredients before you start

INGREDIENTS:
1 Kilo Low fat Minced Meat
1 Medium Onion
1 large egg or 2 small eggs
1 slice of Bread (stale), preferably brown
Sprinkling of Flour
Seasoning:
Garlic
Jerk Seasoning or Mixed Spice
Mixed Herbs

Optional:
Salt and Pepper

NB: Precise amounts are not particularly important for this recipe, so you can add more or less or vary the ingredients, for instance by using one or two eggs, one or two onions, no bread or just half a slice, and different herbs and spices, to vary the flavour every time you make beefburgers.

Method for Quick and Easy Beefburgers

Your Beefburger Dinner Will be ready in 15 - 20 Minutes

Method for making Healthy Beefburgers:
It's so easy -
- Put the Low fat minced meat in a large bowl
- Chop the onions into fairly small pieces in a blender or with a knife and put them into the meat
- Crush 2 cloves of garlic and add to the meat (you can use 1 teaspoonful of bottled minced garlic)
- Blend the bread to make breadcrumbs (you can do this by hand by crumbling the bread if you haven't got a blender) and add it to the meat
- Beat up one or two eggs in the blender or by hand in a basin and add to the meat
- Sprinkle the meat with 1 teaspoonful of Jerk seasoning and mixed herbs (you can use other spices and herbs in substitution)
- Mix all the ingredients well
- Grease the grill pan with a light brushing of cooking oil and heat the pan on a low to medium heat
- whilst it is heating up:
- Sprinkle the board and your hands lightly with flour (to stop the meat sticking)

- Fashion about 1 tablespoonful of the mixture into a round flat burger using your hands to shape it into a round flat shape, pushing the meat
together so that it doesn't fall apart
whilst cooking
- Make further burgers, keeping the board and your hands covered in flour to avoid a sticky mess, arranging them round the pan as you make them
- Turn them once or twice whilst cooking, to make sure they are cooked right through. I like them a bit burnt and crispy on the outside and pale brown on the inside, but tastes differ. Just leave them on to cook a little longer if you like them well done.

Serve the beefburgers whilst hot with chips, buns, French bread and/or salad, or a tomato sauce (see below for how to make this)

OK, I'll use raw ingredients and make more healthy meals. This looks simple enough, I just had getting my hands dirty. However, you have convinced me that this is a better way. Good job.

    Hi,

On the poll I have to vote all of the above, is that a bad thing LOL :)

Being a diabetic I buy the leanest ground beef possible, so I add loads of onion to add moisture and flavor. You've provided a few more ideas for goodies to through in the mix though that I'll have to try.
