How to make the most nutritious homemade organic dog treats.
Homemade organic dog treats are delicious, healthy and you always know exactly what your pup is eating. No chemicals, preservatives or artificial ingredients.
Feed treats in moderation as too many will cause weight gain. Just like us, a treat is for special occasions.

The Best Home Made Dog Treat Recipe

I have my own dog treat recipes that are natural, healthy, organic and good for your pet.
The best homemade dog treat recipes are baked, which eliminates extra unnecessary fat. Using fresh ingredients in your homemade dog treats, and flavors you know your dog loves will make everyone happy and healthy.
A tiny bit of fat or sugar might be added to dog treat recipes - after all they are treats, not their regular daily nutritional meal. Just as we love the occasional snack food that is perhaps not high in beneficial nutrients, so do out pets.
Here is the absolutely best and easiest dog food treat recipe that I have ever found and use all the time for my dogs. I have been making it for years and it is always the first to disappear.
It is all natural, organic, and good for them. There are obviously no preservatives, fillers, chemicals or any other harmful ingredients that is regularly used by the dog food industry. This is something we could eat also, if you like beef jerky.
It is a one ingredient dog treat recipe, with no muss or fuss in the kitchen.
Try it - I guarantee your dog will love it!
BEEF CRUNCHIES
1 lb. (500 g) lean beef *NOTE: I buy and use any amount of beef that is on sale.
My supermarket marks meat 50% off on the last day
sell by date. It is still edible and safe to eat. Then
I make bigger batches of this recipe.
Dice the meat into half-inch cubes. Cover a baking sheet with baking parchment and place the cubes of meat on it, close together. Put into a cold oven and heat to 300 degrees F. Cook the meat in the oven for 1 hour.
Reduce the oven temperature to 200 degrees F, and prop open the oven door to allow the moisture to escape. Dry the cubes of meat in the oven for a further 2 hours.
Allow the beef crunchies to dry overnight at room temperature.
The crunchies will keep for up to a year in an airtight container in the fridge, - but of course your dog will not allow this.
Here is another extremely easy, but highly nutrtious home made dog treat for your dog.
FROZEN MEAT POPS
I also give this to my girls and they love it - especially in the summer.
I take a can of high quality organic dog food, like Wellness and make little treat sized bites with it.
I use a spoon and drop onto a parchment covered baking tray, just like making cookies, and freeze them. When frozen I pop them all into a sealed bag in the freezer and they are ready to go. Wellness, by Old Mother Hubbard uses human grade meat, and it actually smells pretty good. My girls love the venison. It is 95% meat which is processed right in the can. Yummy!

Homemade Organic Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Homemade Organic PEANUT BUTTER Dog Treat Recipe
I use all natural organic unsweetened peanut butter from the health food store, or Justins Organic Peanut Butter, made especially for dogs.
Molasses is a healthy sweetener that has a variety of trace minerals, including manganese, which is good for your dog.

Don't forget this not a meal or meal replacement, and should not be used to fill you pooch up with too many a day.
1/2 cup peanut butter
4 TBSP. blackstrap molasses
1 cup water
6 TBSP vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
2 cups whole wheat flour
Mix the molasses, peanut butter, water and oil until blended.
Combine the oats and flour in a separate bowl, then slowly add to the wet ingredients. Mix thoroughly (I use my blender and pulse until it forms a ball around the side of the bowl.), but this can easily be done with a hand mixer, or even by hand.
Drop approximately 36 teaspoon sized portions onto a baking sheet. I flatten them with the bottom of a glass, and bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes (until firm)
These are sturdy and will keep in an airtight container for about 2 weeks.
