1909 - American Can Company makes the first attempt at canned beer - and fails.
1932 - American Can Company tries again to make canned beer - and succeeds!!!
1935 - Pabst becomes the first major American brewery to offer canned beer.
1938 - For the first time, canned beer is sold in 6 Packs.
1958 - Aluminum beer cans are sold in the USA for the first time.
1962 - Iron City Beer tests the first pull tab beer cans.
1969 - Beer in cans outsells bottles for the first time in history.
1970 - Beer Can Collectors of America is founded.

After the end of Prohibition, the American Can Company made another attempt to can beer. By this time, can technology had improved and by the end of 1933 they had a can that could withstand the pressure and had a special coating on the inside to prevent the beer from reacting with the tin can. The first canned beer went on sale January 24, 1935 in Richmond, Virginia. In honor of this historic event, January 24 is now celebrated as Beer Can Appreciation Day.

- Serves: 1
- Prep Time: 30 seconds
- Total Time: 3 minutes
Ingredients
- Two (2) 12 oz. cans Steel Reserve beer
- One (1) 6 oz. can Campbells Tomato Juice
- One (1) 32 oz. capacity (or larger) beer mug
Instructions
Slowly pour one can of Steel Reserve into the beer mug. Be careful so you don't make the beer foam up and go flat. Add one can of tomato juice, again pouring slowly so the beer doesn't foam up. After adding the tomato juice, carefully add the second can of Steel Reserve. Relax and enjoy...
