Before You Sign up With Any MLM...Learn How to Choose the Right Company.

There are lots of great MLM Home Business Opportunities out there...

But there are also many scams! Before you sign up with any company You need to do some detective work. That is what this lens is about. This lens will give you many useful nuggets on how to investigate any MLM Company.

Joining a MLM company is a huge life decision. You would never start a new job without first knowing how much you will get paid, or if there are benefits or what the hours are like, right? So why do people sign up for business opportunities with doing the proper research? I think it's because they get so sucked into the hype that they think with their emotions rather than doing the proper research. This lens is to help you learn how to research a company.

Michael Dlouhy helped to educate me....

I will always be grateful to Michael for helping me figure this MLM thing out. He helped me learn how to become a criticle thinker and not be afraid to think for myself and ask the right questions.

Pillar #1 Company Management Experience with Integrity

Do a Google Search

It is a good idea to Google the Company. You can type the name of the company then type 'scam' and see what comes up. You can also Google the name of the owner or the big up-line Guru. Do you see a lot of negative or even any lawsuits.1 point

Beware of Companies pressuring you to invest in large quantities of products

Some companies will encourage you to buy your way to the top. This is a huge big flag.1 point

Read your Policies and procedures.

If the policies are more than 5 pages long, this could be a red flag. If you need an attorney to help you decipher it, then that may be a red flag. Keep your eye out for words like, "terminate" or "ongoing".0 points

Does the Company charge you for training or a Company Website?

0 points

Give your honest Answer...

When I signed up with my first company I was so sucked into the hype and excitement that I didn't read the policies and procedures. After being educated, I learned that not only was I NOT in a 5 Pillar Company, but there was a clause that said they could terminate me for any reason without cause. I am no longer with that company.

Pillar #2 Timing in the Company / Timing in the Industry

Beware of Start-up Companies or Companies younger than 2 years old

Give the company a chance to go through some growing pains and fix any problems.1 point

99% of companies don't last two years.

1 point

Pillar #3 Remarkable Product

Is there a real product.

Ask yourself this question... "Would I buy this product if there was no business opportunity attached?" If your answer is no, then run the other way. This may very well be a pyramid scheme which is illegal.2 points

Will your customers buy the product at retail?

You should be able to sell your products at retail. If you are only able to sell your products by giving your customer your discount, then this is a red flag.0 points

Pillar #4 Compensation Plan That Pays Part-Timers

Understand the Comp. plan

A good pay plan is a plan that pays the most, for the least amount of people, in your organization.0 points

If the recruiting stopped, would you still get a check?

0 points

Question?

If you were offered two jobs that were exactly the same and one paid $6 an hour while the other paid $20 an hour, which would you take?

Well Duh! Of course you would take the second job.

An MLM shouldn't be any different. You need an MLM that pays the part-timer!

You deserve it right?

Pillar #5 System for Success

You must have a system for success. People are not duplicatable, but systems are.

Do not treat your business like a numbers game?

People are not numbers. They are real people just like you with hopes and dreams.0 points

Do not invest in Buying Leads.

Buying leads is a scam!0 points

Can Anyone use the system?

You need to have a system that anyone can be successful with.0 points

More Red Flag Warnings....

  • Can you buy your way to the top? - scam
  • If you can't pay with a credit card and must pay only with a money order or cash...- Run as fast as you can in the other direction - scam
  • If your company tells you you must have a Merchant account to process your customers credit cards...Red Flag.
  • Does the company encourage you to invest large amounts of money for advertising and leads. This is a scam. You don't need to buy leads to grow a business.
  • Worse, Is your up-line telling you do buy leads from them? They are probably getting a cut and making their money off of selling leads, not the business.
  • Does the company flash large checks at trainings or on the website? This is called enticement and is against the law in most states.
  • Did someone say... "We will build it for you". That is a lie- Run!
