Beginner Guitar Tutorial
Beginning to play an instrument is not always simple. The beginning is always the hardest part. And what's more, the beginner guitar tutorial you use can make or break you. The most difficult part is understanding what's going on. It is therefore essential to find the right beginner guitar tutorial for you from the word go.
But once all of the bumps in the road are smoothed out, you'll find that guitar playing really can be as easy (and fun) as it looks.

Beginner Guitar Tutorial: Where to Start
In this beginner guitar tutorial, I'll start you off with the boring stuff first, so we can get it out of the way, and therefore you'll know what I'm talking about later on.
First, you'll have to know what the parts of the guitar are called (not by heart necessarily, but you'll see that they're not that hard to remember anyway).
Wait for it, the boring part of this beginner guitar tutorial is almost over. You should also know what each string of the guitar is called (there are 6, in case you didn't notice):
Each string also has a number:
And then the last thing I need to mention in the 'boring' section, is your hands and fingers. Your right hand does all the picking (plucking each string individually) and strumming (playing some or all of the strings at once). Your left hand 'presses' down specific tabs and chords in the frets of the guitar. All the fingers of your left hand have numbers, except your thumb.
It's also essential that your nails are short at all times!

The longest I`ve ever gone without playing guitar is two or three days. It keeps me going. -- Peter Tork
The Good Stuff
OK, you can breathe out now and stop speed-reading; the boring part of this beginner guitar tutorial is over. You can now start to play some chords. Here, I'll only show you some of the chords that guitarists use. Keep in mind that there are many, many other chords out there, but for now, you just need to know the fundamentals. The pictures of the chords show you the position of your left hand's fingers on the strings (remember the finger and string numbering from the previous section?).

If the chords sound bad in the beginning, don't freak out and think you're a failure. If you practice them enough (and I mean every day), you'll get them right.
Where to Now?
What I've shown you in this introductory beginner guitar tutorial, is just to start you off. From here, I'd advise you to take a look at this online beginner guitar tutorial.
It'll show you more chords, as well as how to read tabs, and countless other things, as well as many guitar playing secrets. In fact, it will take you from beginner to advanced guitarist by making use of e-books, videos and software.
Remember this if you want to be successful: Don't stop practicing, and be tolerant with yourself!
