Gaining The Right Perspective For Building A Home Business
I thought about making this lense another one of those top 10, 50 or 100 tips to building a successful home business. I the reconsidered and decided I would write about one simple and what I think is an obvious mistake that anyone considering working from home makes.
The idea of working out of your own house is not a new one and it actually seems to be a very popular idea as millions of people seem to be attempting a work from home plan at some point in their life now a days. What are some of the more common reasons that drive people towards that dream of better days working at home.
Getting Perspective On Working From Home
Most people start a home business for all the wrong reasons which is why so many people attempt working out of their homes every year and every year millions of people fail. Some of the common ones like I was stating are things like I will get to spend more time with my family or it will give me more free time to do my own thing. Have you ever heard this one, think of all the money I will save by not having to commute to work? There in lies the perspective problem a successful business is created out of need, either services or goods. All that other stuff is icing on the cake that only comes after years of long hours and longer days building up a successful home based business. It's a classic case of counting your eggs before the hatch or putting the horse before the cart or any other cheesy old saying that applies.
The reason why so many people have jobs that are not at home is because of the perspective you have. You leave your home and commute to a neutral building or place where your services are needed to be performed. You are removed from your home away from personal distraction and if you want to get paid you will do your work. What happens on the other end of the spectrum when people start working out of their house after years of commuting and going to work?
That structure of having a job is no longer there and now that act of sitting down at your "office" and doing work is depending on your ability to stay motivated enough to work your business everyday. Gee your sitting at home and all your personal stuff is sitting around the house just staring at you waiting for you to pick it up and do what? Waste time! Time that should be spent working something you had no problem doing when you commuted to work because you were away and forced to do your job.
It's been my experience that the people that seem to be successful at starting a home business are the type A personalities. The people that can be disciplined about keeping their business and personal life separate even though they are now both under one roof. The rest of us and I am including myself in this bunch(i'll stick to sharing blogs 8>) find it to difficult to keep those things apart and they have a nasty habit of blending together which of course is not a formula for success and working from home.
