Tips For Learning to Read
- Don't just concentrate on phonics or sight words, make sure you use a combination of the two.- Some children, especially little boys, can have trouble with phonics. Don't give up on it. It just may take them longer to learn it.
- Don't get frustrated with your child if he/ she doesn't catch on right away. Reading can be harder for some children.
- Make time to help your child everyday with their reading. It will be worth the time invested!!!
- If your child is getting up in 2nd grade and still isn't getting the very basics or is not progressing, you may want to talk to someone (a teacher, tutor, doctor, ect.) about it.

Remember...
Read to your child everyday!!!
This will help them in their ability to read as they get older and they will be more likely to be interested in books as they grow up.
Reading opens up new worlds for your child!

My name is Lynn (aka Lynn W, eclecticeducation, and lynnhsmomof2) and I am a Christian mother who homeschools her two boys. I am also a Work at Home Mom (WAHM) who does freelance writing (at Squidoo, eHow and Bukisa), affiliate marketing and designs products at Zazzle. When I'm not busy with my family, homeschooling or working online, I love to read, especially fantasy and sci-fi, watch tv and movies, and scrapbook. Some of my favorite movies are Star Wars, Narnia, Lord of the Rings and Spiderman. Some of the television shows that I watch are Heroes, NCIS, Psych, Monk and Royal Pains.
