Some things an Artistic 13 year old girl likes
Thirteen, that magic year when a child becomes a Teenager. Magic words to them, and terrifying ones to a parent! As a Grandparent I don't have to live with them, so I am often in a dilemma as to what to buy for them, what do they like. They've outgrown most of the toys that they enjoyed in childhood.
Not all 13 year old's are the same. Mine happens to be artistic so the things highlighted here are good for an Artistic Teenager.
My Arts and Crafts
I make beaded earrings
My Granddaughter is very artistic. She loves to make things, and a few of the gifts that I have gotten her recently are beads and embroidery thread for making "friendship" bracelets among other things.
This is what she had to say about what she likes to make:
"I learned how to make beaded earrings when I was twelve years old. My Auntie taught me how to make them and now they are my gifts I make for people, and they really love them. To make them I use dental floss, all kinds of beads, and earring hooks. They are really easy and quick to make".

Making earrings is something many young teenagers enjoy if they have an artistic side to them.

Teenagers love cameras
Teenagers love taking pictures of themselves and others, and many of them post them online. I wouldn't suggest getting the most expensive cameras for them, as my grandkids have gone through several of them. They either get lost or broken. But if you need a gift a camera is a good one. The Photo Editing Program good for a 13 year old
My Granddaughter loves art, and recently she joined the yearbook club at school where she learned Photo Shop. I gave her a computer but it didn't have a program she could use for her digital art. Adobe Elements is an easier program, and has basically similar applications. The old version works just as good as the new version.

In school we used Adobe Photo shop to do magnetic lasso, advance crop, color saturation, advanced black and white, allowing to leave a little bit of color and the rest black and white, and many other filters.
Friendship Bracelets are popular again
13 year olds love making things and love their friends
Fads come in and out, and friendship bracelets are back in style. I bought the Klutz books with the embroidery thread and would recommend them for sure. the pictures are good for showing step by step directions, and there is enough floss for several bracelets.

- I would have enjoyed those bead kits when I was thirteen, and (had computers been advanced enough then) tinkering with them online. As several people have noted, some of that stuff looks good to us adults, too.
