Using Affirmations to Discover the Joys in Your Life

Affirmations are simple statements we can use to improve our self-esteem, help us reach a goal, break a bad habit, find love, or even discover joy in our lives. Positive affirmations work hand in hand with our subconscious to make lasting changes for the better.

Many times we may already experience joy, but we don't know celebrate it enough. Sadly, at other times, we aren't even aware that it's present. Positive affirmations can help you rediscover that joy, peace, health, and happiness!

Here are some examples of positive affirmations and how they can improve your life:

1. "I'm worth it!" This positive affirmation tells us that we're deserving of being happy. If you're feeling dejected or worthless, this affirmation can work wonders.

* By using this affirmation on a consistent basis and coupling it with an open heart, you'll see results. You'll realize that you're more than deserving of happiness and joy.

2. "I go with the flow and my life is easy and filled with happiness." Are you feeling stuck in rut or completely stressed out? This is an effective positive affirmation that helps you to release all that tension.

3. "I see the beauty in my surroundings and I radiate love and joy." This positive affirmation will help you to notice all that's beautiful in this world. It will also teach you how to spread love and joy to those around you.

* You can enjoy everything this world has to offer; all you have to do is give yourself permission to celebrate!

4. "I now choose thoughts that nourish and support me in a loving manner." This will tell your subconscious that you're serious and you want to make good, positive changes in your life.

* This affirmation helps you open your mind to constructive thoughts so you can celebrate all the joys that life has to offer you.

5. "I can relax and accept the good that I know I deserve in my life." This is a positive affirmation that will help with your stress and patience.

My optimistic attitude and perspective on life attracts positive people.

Self Reflection Exercice

As they say, "Birds of a feather flock together." I show my positive attitude in my words and actions, so others who feel the same way about life are drawn to me. After all, positive people enjoy being around other positive people.

I feel that things tend to work out for the best and I enjoy sharing my hopes and dreams for a bright future with other like-minded individuals. It's something we have in common.

A negative person might say that I look at life through rose-colored glasses. They prefer being around other negative people, like themselves, discussing "real" life.

However, I know with certainty that I would much rather have my life than theirs. After all, I am much happier. I seek solutions to my challenges and move forward toward my goals.

Each to their own, I say. This is why I attract positive people.

I find the silver lining in challenges. I take positive action to live the life I desire. And these are the types of things I share with those around me. It is other positive people who want to hear these types of ideas.

Today, I choose to share my positive attitude with anyone who will listen, knowing that those who do are the very people I want to attract into my life.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What attitude about life do my conversations reveal?
2. Do I prefer to be around positive people, or people who will listen to my problems?
3. What can I do to strengthen my optimism to attract more happiness into my life?

I have a positive effect on others.

Self Reflection Exercice

I strive to leave a positive impact wherever I go. As a result, others look forward to my visits and the good effects spill over to me, too!

In the mornings, I help my family get started in a good mood. I prepare clothes the night before and keep backpacks by the door to prevent a stressful and frantic morning rush.

At work, I encourage a peaceful, productive atmosphere. I avoid participating in gossip and office politics, and my co-workers feel confident around me. I am sure to give sincere compliments to others for a job well done.

My clients enjoy doing business with me because I go out of my way to give them a good experience and I show them appreciation for their business.

At the grocery store, I am patient with a harried mother counting out change for her baby's formula. I share food, drink, and money with the beggar on the street corner. I open doors for others and give them a warm smile.

I make it a point to say, "Thank you," and I make my discussions encouraging and optimistic.

In these small ways, I know that I make a positive difference in my community.

In the evenings, my family has dinner together and we share our day with each other. We use the meal as a time to catch up, share our plans for the future, and show our support for each family member.

Today, I plan to step up my positive impact efforts and help a stranger in need.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. What kind of effect do I have on others?
2. Do other people seem genuinely happy to see me?
3. How can I increase my positive effect on others in my daily routines?

Summer is always around the corner.

Self-Reflection Exercice

When life throws storms in my path, I know I can persevere. Just as the summer brings warm relief from the challenges of winter, my troubles are always relieved by the passing of the storm.

If I am having a difficult period in my life, my strategy is to take it one day at a time. I can make plans for one day without overwhelming myself with all the "what-ifs" of the future. I can always make it through one day, knowing that better days are just around the corner.

I let go of any tendency to feel sorry for myself and embrace action, instead. Rather than sitting around bemoaning my challenge, I seek solutions and move forward immediately to implement them.

This keeps my mind occupied with moving forward and relieves my stress of the challenge. It also helps ensure that my summer arrives as quickly as possible, putting those hard times behind me!

Another thing that gets me through the hard times is discovering the joy in everyday moments. When I allow myself to see this joy even on difficult days, it makes the time seem shorter until summer is here again!

Even if times are challenging, I can still enjoy the beauty of the dawn, feel refreshed by a warm shower, and rejoice in my partner's smile.

Today, I feel confident that no matter what this day brings I know I can get through it, because, after all, summer is just around the corner!

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. When hard times are upon me, how do I handle them?
2. Do I seek solutions and take action toward them immediately?
3. How can I remind myself to find the joy in the small moments of each day?

I create new habits to help me reach my goals.

Self-Reflection Exercice

When I set a new goal, I try to think of anything I can do consistently, on a daily basis, to help me achieve it. Then I use mental cues, affirmations, and meditation to help me create that habit.

If the new goal is a positive character trait, like greater confidence, I strive to exhibit that attitude daily. I create affirmations that remind me that I am a winner and I visualize conquering challenges with ease.

Soon enough, I realize that my habits have led me to my goal.

If I wish to become a philanthropist, I share my good fortune daily with those less fortunate, even if it is in very small amounts. The habit of automatically exhibiting this generosity catapults me to my goal.

If I wish to fund something like a new car or a vacation, I get in the habit of automatically putting away bits of money daily, like dropping all my change into a jar or strictly paying cash for my purchases to avoid overspending. These thrifty strategies become habits in a short time that help me reach my goal.

I use this strategy for every goal I set. Every time I reinforce the habit, I strengthen it, which brings me closer to my goals!

My goal, today, is to create a new habit to help me maintain an optimistic attitude, no matter what. Every time I find myself with a negative thought, I can repeat a positive affirmation to replace it.

Self-Reflection Questions:

1. Do I rely on habits to give me an automatic push toward my goals?
2. What can I do consistently to help me achieve my latest goal?
3. What strategies can I use to help me reinforce those actions into a habit?
