Going Green

When my daughters were babies I used these cloth diapers Natural Baby catalog

They sell different earth friendly items there, my favorite was the cloth diapers which are a superior quality to any cloth diapers you find in stores today. They seem pricey but really are not if you do the math on buying disposable diapers.

It helps greatly to use cloth diapers and it is not as bad as it seems, especially if you breastfeed which I did.

You can buy covers for these diapers at Gymboree and they also sell them at the same company that makes the cloth diapers here diaper covers

Disposable diapers is new to this and the last century and is not good for the environemnt. You will also save alot of money using cloth diapers instead of disposable and you will feel good about what you are doing for your child, the future and the Earth as a whole.

I also hand a hand grinder to make baby food with, given to me by my aunt when I was pregnant with my second daughter. I also bought organic baby food which was always available in the local grocery store.

    Climate Crisis

    I just watched the movie

    An Inconvienent Truth

and I highly recommend others watch this movie. Al Gore has my respect and admiration as he has been courageous and tenacious in trying to help us SAVE US. It seems we have a habit of closing our eyes, a natural human defect of character. However we cannot no longer afford to do this with the rate we are going with pollution and the damage done by fossil fuels. Our polar ice caps and polar ice is melting at an alarming rate which will cause the loss of millions of lives as the oceans fill up lands of beach areas and much further inland for many other countries.

Going green is not just a choice. It is a must for our survival.

Rent An Inconvienent Truth, you will see in more depth how important going green is.

Our polar bears are drowning as they have to swim to far to find ice to rest on.

    Drinking water will significantly diminish.

I have a deep sense of gratitude for Al Gore for going around the world to get this message out.

More and more people are using solar panels. It is a great way to get the energy for electricity in your home. If you have too much energy you can actually sell it back to the utility companies. So many people using a more green approach to their home and going "off the grid" are actually not only not paying for their electricity, they are making money from electricity.

How great is that! And the bonus of not using up more of the harmful oils that contaminate our ozone layer, make our artic ice disapper which is serious for our survival is all the benefit and motivation one really needs. If you can afford to use solar panels, it will save us.

    Arctic Ice is Melting

You can check out the story here National Geographic.

The pollution we emit by all the fossil fuels we use are causing far reaching damage to our home- The Earth. Without the polar ice we have had on our planet for so many years we will experience weather patterns we have never seen before. The ice keeps our planet balanced. Without it we would end up in another ice age after the imbalance caused toxic air for us and all sorts of ecological disasters. You can rent the movie- Earth: The Biography to find out about some of the issues we are facing. Another movie to watch is- An Inconvenient Truth. There are many more and some cable channels have documentaries on these very subjects that are told elegantly but simply to the everyday viewer.

In the history of mankind we always used to use cloth for these sorts of things. It is only in this and the last century that we have become such a throw away society of beings.

It's all so much easier than we fear, changing just a few things can make a big difference. We just have to be willing to try something different.

Thank you. It is interesting to read that also today there are mothers, who use the cloth diapers. They are cheaper at the end, because you buy them only once or twice, but not in each week. You can wash them and you can use them for a lot of other things in the household. The childs who grown with cloth diapers are earlier clean, because they feel the humidity. Of course, you can not let your baby the half day in them... 5* for you.

I used cloth diapers too, of course I couldn't afford the others, but the one time I used them (they were a gift and we were traveling) she got a rash. Now they are so unbiquitous that poor people don't know about cloth diapers. (and washing them wasn't that hard. I even had to had carry them to the apartment laundry and it wasn't that bad. I remember enjoying that they went in so disgusting and came out so clean and cluffy and I really didn't have to do anything much!

Also, I recently heard where France puts an extra tax on anything disposable. From diapers to plastic water bottles to pens (well I didn't hear pens, but I hope so)

Something has to be done about the waste!

Oh ya and 5* now that you have me going!
