The original and scariest dracula! He was the cause of many of my nightmares in my formative years!
Ah, Bela Lugosi cast as Dracula -- what perfect typecasting as to me Bela Lugosi is and was the best Dracula of all time. Does he NOT scare you too? He scared me silly when I was a child and still does!
Today I personally will NOT watch scary movies with the one exception -- I will watch the Dracula movies. You see, as Bela Lugosi WAS Dracula for me. The only other actor to come close was Gary Oldman in Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !! Check him out!

Born in Lugos, Hungary ... now Lugoj, Romania!
Bela Lugosi was born Béla Ferenc Dezso Blasko in Lugos, Hungary which was, at the time, part of Austria-Hungary. Today, because of the border changes after World War I, his birth town is Lugoj, Romania. Like Lugosi, my grandfather was born in Szatmar, Hungary, part of Austria-Hungary, which is today Satu Mare in Romania!
Why I love Bela Lugosi !!!

I thank Bela Lugosi, in his portrayal as Count Dracula, for scaring the pants off of me when I was a young Hungarian-American child in my formative years!
To me he WAS and still is the original Count and other actors pale in comparison. It certainly didn't hurt that he was actually born in Hungary near Transylvania for him to be convincing in the part!
If you are not old enough to have seen any of his movies, I encourage you to buy a couple and check him out!

Bela Lugosi's Dead ...
"'Bela Lugosis Dead'" is a gothic rock song written by the band Bauhaus. The song was the bands first single, released in August 1979, and is often considered to be the first gothic rock record released.Jennifer Park, "Melancholy and the Macabre: Gothic Rock and Fashion," Gothic: Dark Glamour by Valerie Steele and Jennifer Park, p. 117. It did not enter the UK pop charts, but remained on sale for many years thereafter. The b-side features the song "Boys" and some versions also include an early demo recording of what would be their next single, "Dark Entries". It was released on CD in 1988 and was compiled on the 1998 album, Crackle - The Best of Bauhaus. The original sleeve art was taken from a still of the film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari.
