Belkin Laptop Cooling Pad

Cooling pads for laptops are such a great idea. It is an essential accessory if you have ever suffered the frustration of seeing your laptop or notebook suddenly die from overheating.

Having had enough of pulling my hair out for several weeks, I decided to purchase the Belkin laptop cooling pad to see if it would solve my problem. After weeks of use, it continues to do its job incredibly well, preventing my Acer laptop from overheating and allowing me to have stress free time online.

The first thing one notices about the Belkin Laptop Cooling Pad (which comes in black or white) is how quick and simple it is to set up. I had it up and working in around a minute.

Great! No power cords! It is powered by a USB cable, which is stored in a convenient compartment underneath the pad. It was just a case of hooking this up and you are set to go. My laptop easily sat on the unique shaped pad, which has a stand that tilts the computer to a more user friendly position. No more straining to see the screen or stress on the wrists, which is essential if you are in front of a laptop for any length of time. Although the pad tilts, there is no danger of your laptop sliding, as this computer accessory has rubber anti-slip pads - one at the top and the other at the bottom.

As mentioned, the Belkin Laptop Cooling Pad has a unique shape, as can be seen in the picture above. The manufacturer calls it a wave design, which allows the single fan in the middle of the pad to blow a cool air flow directly on to the underside of your laptop. This effectively blows air up and out of the sides of the laptop, preventing it from becoming otherwise trapped. A very cool feature!

I noticed, when I took the cooling pad out of the packaging, how light and portable it is. This is excellent for anybody who surfs "on the run", as it can be easily slipped into a laptop bag and transported to wherever it is needed. Something essential if you are going to be away for an extended time.

While the pad is doing a great job at what it is designed to do, my only concern was with the stand. While it is a useful positional tool, it does not have a lock or latch to hold it in place. It hasn't happened yet, but I would imagine that if you were to push the laptop forward and away from you, then this is liable to cause the pad to collapse. Something of which to be aware.

I have also seen reports of the fan being noisy. This may have been the case in the older models of this cooling pad, but I have not noticed it to be overly loud from my prolonged usage. I would also recommend using the pad on a firm, flat surface such as a table or counter, as its effectiveness may be diminished if used directly on your lap, bed or carpet etc.

All in all, I have been very happy with this cooling pad. It does what is says on the box at a very reasonable price!
