Twilight: Bella's Lullaby
Ranked #2,951 in Music, #81,565 overall
The most romantic part of Twilight....
In Twilight, the first book of Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga, Edward, the 100-year-old teenage vampire hero, writes a lullaby for Bella, his human beloved. He hums is as he watches her sleep at night, and when Bella finally visits the Cullen house, Edward plays it for her on the piano. It's widely considered to be the most romantic part of the book, and thus a supremely important part in the making of the movie.
But there isn't only one Bella's Lullaby... there are at least three. Read on for the details....

Rob's Version
Version One: Rob Pattinson's Lullaby
Apparently as the movie was being made and they were casting about for a tune for Bella's Lullaby, the director discovered that Rob Pattinson (who played Edward) is an accomplished musician. She gave him the OK to write a lullaby, with the thought that if it turned out well, it would just make the song that much more special because Rob had written it.

“...and cutely enough, Rob is writing it on the piano as we speak.”

- Twilight fans can almost universally agree on one thing: the book's single most romantic moment is the first time Edward plays the lullaby he wrote for Bella on the grand piano in his home. It's a lovely scene....

Fan Version
Version Two: A River Flows in You
Before the official version of the lullaby for the Twilight movie was known, fans everywhere began to speculate on what song would be used for Bella's Lullaby. River Flows in You by the New Age pianist Yurima was the overwhelming favorite. In fact one fan video featuring the Yurima song as the lullaby has over 5 million views on YouTube! I just fell in love with this song...Love everything about it. I just wished this version was on the Twilight Soundtrack. -
From YouTube:
"When I read the manuscript midnight sun, the section where edward talks about writing the song, this is the song that I heard in my head but could not place. It follows almost exactly to the t how edward describes it. How it starts off sad because hes in love with her and can't have her and then how it picks up because he is happy anyways and she makes him feel again. Then how the song sort of dwindles into a sad ending because he knows that she can't stay and be with him because of what he is and that she is a mortal. Its perfect, even though I do like the lullaby that was in the movie."

He laughed, and then began to hum that same, unfamiliar lullaby; the voice of an archangel, soft in my ear.

Movie Version
Version Three: Carter Burwell's Love Theme
Carter Burwell is the composer/musician who did the score for the movie, and it's his version that became "Bella's Lullaby" in the film. Burwell's website tells the long but very interesting story of the love theme. Here are some of the highlights (but it's definitely worth it to click over and read the entire history of the song):- Bella's Lullaby in the film is actually two songs mixed together.
- Burwell wrote one portion of the song (where Edward is playing the piano) years before, and under circumstances worthy of their own love story.
- What is called "Bella's Lullaby" on both albums wasn't written to be the lullaby. Director Catherine Hardwicke and Burwell called it the "love theme" throughout production
- Originally Bella's Lullaby wasn't even going to be a part of the movie
- Changes were made in the love theme right up until the end, even requiring the piano scene to be reshot so Rob's hands playing would match the changes.

- I love the details you've provided regarding the choices and the videos, too. I picked Carter Burwell's version as my favorite. It might be the addition of the orchestra, but it's rhythm gets stuck in my head quite often. :D Lensrolled to my Twilight Piano Music - Not! which also has a remix that I'm finding a lot of fun.
