How to Apply Mineral Makeup

So you've decided to switch to Mineral Makeup. What Now? This page is dedicated to helping those newly inducted into the group of women who've chosen a healthier alternative to mainstream cosmetics. This page will teach you How to Apply, and Learn to Love, Mineral Makeup!

So you've made the switch - Hooray! You've bought your new mineral makeup - Hooray! You've got jars of colors, lots of minerals tons of brushes... What's Next?

The wonderful thing about Mineral Makeup is that there's no steadfast rules to follow except for one: Technique. The technique in applying minerals is always the same.

If you follow this Application Guide, you will not only learn the technique, you will also learn to love your Mineral Makeup! Why? You'll love the result proper application will give your skin.

Mineral Makeup Application Guide

Rule of Thumb: Always be sure to apply your Minerals to freshly cleansed, exfoliated & moisturized skin for best results. And remember: Mineral Makeup is highly pigmented and very concentrated, less is more and a little goes a long way!

Concealer: Either remove or poke holes with a toothpick into your sifter jar seal and tap some of your Concealer into your jar lid. Using a concealer brush (or any other soft, small flat brush), swirl your brush into your Concealer, picking up the product into the brush bristles. Tap off excess into your lid. Apply gently to any area of your skin you'd like to minimize: under-eye circles, blemishes, dark spots, scars or broken capillaries. Apply in light layers until you're satisfied with the coverage. You may see the Concealer on your skin, but once you apply your Foundation, it will blend seamlessly, providing great coverage!

Correctors: Follow the above instructions to open and access your color corrector. Color correctors are applied in the same fashion as concealers. While in most cases concealer will do the trick, some women need a corrector to camoflage specifice skin flaws. A green color corrector will help minimize redness and blemishes, while a yellow color corrector will help diminish the appearance of dark under eye circles.

Foundation: Either remove or poke holes into your sifter jar seal and tap some of your Mineral Foundation into the jar lid. Using a face powder brush (this smaller brush will allow for lighter coverage) or a kabuki brush (this brush with more bristles will allow for heavier coverage), swirl your brush into your foundation picking up the product into the brush bristles('load' your brush). Tap off excess back into your lid, and then tap with the brush upside-down so product settles into the bristles - you should barely be able to see the Minerals on the brush. Starting at the outer part of your face (just in case you've loaded too much product, it'll be easier to remove it from the outer part of your face), apply using a light, circular motion. Work towards the center of your face, and gently buff, buff, buff a light layer of Minerals onto your skin. Apply more light layers, if necessary, until you're satisfied with the coverage.

Bronzer: Follow instructions above to open and access your Bronzer. Using a face powder, kabuki brush or baby buki (for maximum control of application), swirl your Bronzer lightly onto areas of your skin you'd like a sun-kissed warmth: forehead, nose, cheeks, decollete, shoulders, etc.

Mineral Warmth: Follow instructions to open and access your Warmth. Using a face powder, blush brush or baby buki brush, sqirl your Warmth lightly on areas of your skin to 'boost' your complexion. Warmths are also wonderful for contouring - apply along the jawline, sides of your nose, below your cheekbones, along your collarbone and even on your decollete to create definition.

Blush: Follow instructions above to open and access your Blush. Using a blush brush or baby kabuki brush (for maximum control of application), swirl Blush onto areas where you'd like a healthy, 'glow-from-within' look.

Mineral Veil: Follow instructions above to open and access your Mineral Veil. Using a face powder or kabuki brush, swirl Mineral Veil onto your entire face to 'set' your mineral makeup, help control shine and minimize the look of pores and fine lines.

Eye Shadow: Follow instructions above to open and access your Eye Shadow. Tap a small amount of Eye Shadow into your jar lid. To apply dry, use an eye shadow sponge applicator or blending brush (for best results) and pick up a small amount of product onto your applicator. Brush gently and smoothly across eye lid, crease or brow bone. Apply in light layers for the desired effect. To apply wet ('foiled'), gently tap some of your Eye Shadow onto a separate surface (don't use your lid, or you could end up with a jar of wet shadow!) and add a drop of water. Mix more or less minerals/water to achieve a creamy consistency. Using your brush, apply to lid, crease or brow bone for a rich, glamorous effect. To use as eyeliner, apply dry for a subtle effect or wet ('foiled') for more dramatic results. Using a fine-tipped bristle brush, follow above instructions and carefully apply along upper and lower lashes.

Tinted Lip Butter: Apply with your finger or lip brush. Apply as often as needed for soft, supple lips and a sheer hint of color/shimmer.
