What are the Benefits of a Memory Foam Bed for Dogs

People often have aches and pains in their joints, dogs do too. This is especially evident as your dog ages. When your dog spends more time "relaxing" and is less enthusiastic for a backyard workout, it may be time to think about your dog's joints. If you decide to shop for a therapeutic memory foam dog bed, there is no doubt that you will run across a memory foam bed.
Memory foam accepts people into their comfort zone by encompassing their body and giving support where it is needed. It will do the same thing for your dog. Memory foam surrounds your dog and supports all of the areas that need support. When your dog gets out of the bed, it returns to its former state.

Not only is support an issue, but temperature is as well. An adequately thick memory foam bed will insulate your dog from the cold winter floors and provide a cooler bed in the summer time.

It is important to shop for a quality foam bed. The preferable choice is one that is hospital grade foam. It must be the correct thickness for the size of your dog. There should be between two and five inches of foam in order to support your dog. The thickness will depend on the size of your dog. A two inch thick memory foam bed would probably be adequate for a toy breed, while four inches may not be enough for a mastiff.

Consider what your dog may be used to if it already has a bed. Some dogs prefer just a flat surface and others are used to ones with sides around the entire bed. Some dogs do not like bagel beds or some of the donut shaped beds that are available.

Keep in mind that if your dog is incontinent, can't hold urine or stool, you will need a waterproof cover for the bed. It is best to use the beds that manufacturers provide for the beds. It is also advisable to check into the warranties that some of the manufacturers provide with their products.

A memory foam dog bed is not meant for puppies that are still chewing everything that comes close to their mouths. They are not chew-proof. Foam is not waterproof. These therapeutic memory foam beds are meant for older dogs that have joint pain at any level. They don't mat or bunch into uncomfortable lumps and will provide the required comfort for your pet every time they climb into it.

Just as these fantastic beds have become a huge preference for people, they have also become vet recommended for aging dogs. You may notice that they have renewed energy when they get up I the mornings and are more anxious to resume their normal activity levels. They are worth the expense for the comfort they provide for your best friend.

There are many reputable sites on the internet that can guide you to the right bed for your dog. They give dimensions, weight limits and all of the information you may need.
