The great thing about solar energy is it is free, it is renewable, it is clean and it is sustainable.

We know how to harness the sun's energy and we know where it is best used.

It is beneficial to use the solar energy that is powered from the sun's rays.

Let's take a look at some of the benefits you can have by using a DIY Solar Power for homes solar energy system.

In this lens we will look at the many ways to apply solar power and the various benefits of using solar power for your home's energy source.

Customer review:
"We've had various solar powered lights before, so didn't know if this one would really be any good.

However, so far we are extremely pleased with it and plan to order more. It seems well-made and is attractive, and puts out a lot of light.

It's also not overly-sensitive, but is sensitive enough to work perfectly. We really are very happy with this purchase and recommend it."

Solar Energy Saves Money Long Term

Electricity rates seem to increase constantly with no end in sight for the never ending price rises.

It is believed that this trend is likely to continue in the years to come.

This means that your electricity bills are just going to get higher and higher and you will need to find extra cash to be able to pay for it.

This is where solar power comes in, because once you have a solar energy system installed, the power it generates is then free.

Solar Energy Is Good For The Environment

As with increase in electricity prices, there is also increased concern about global warming and this concern also seems like it will continue to rise if things stay on track as they currently are.

When you source electricity from fossil fuels they product by-products into the air and this is not at all good for the environment.

Gas, coal and oil produce sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxide, mercury and carbon dioxide as by-products which pollute the air quite badly.

Solar energy does not product any by-products so it is much friendlier for the environment and doesn't contribute to global warming.

Using solar energy also reduces the demand for fossil fuels and these fossil fuel supplies are diminishing so we really do need to start using other sources like solar power.

You May Receive Government Incentives

The initial cost to install a solar energy system can be quite expensive and this is the main reason that people haven't gone ahead and installed a system.

There are some countries and states though that offer tax credits or a rebate to those that install a DIY Solar Power for homes solar energy system.

It can be very beneficial to take advantage of these offers with the increasing cost of electricity you will definitely be better off long term.

In some regions you earn credits from your utility company to feed your excess solar power to your grid via an inverter system.

You may pay .20c per kilowat you use, but also earn up to .60c per kilowat that you feed into the grid from your solar panels.

So if you have a strong system and don't use much energy at home during the day, your solar panels will be earning you money!

Customer Review: "We bought this a few months ago. We live in Phoenix, AZ ("Valley of the Sun"), so this has plenty of opportunity to work. We have it plugged into 2 marine batteries (like car batteries, but bigger), and we have an inverter connected to those. The inverter is in the house, and the batteries are outside. The wire goes through the wall. We plug things into the inverter.

This was easy to put together. You have to buy the batteries, but this came with everything else.

I can run my laptop all day, as well as recharge the cell phones and Wii remotes. My husband can also run his laptop. If we only get on the laptops after work, we can run them well into the night. I've had to switch to grid power a couple of times if I've used my laptop all day, but I've never had to switch over if I've only used it during the evening. (This doesn't count the few rainy days we've had. Yes, once in a while it rains in Phoenix.)

This is not the most efficient solar panel set, but it's very good for starting out and learning about solar power. It's inexpensive enough to set up and charge all your rechargeable stuff whenever you need it, as long as you live in a fairly sunny area. "

Solar Energy Systems Require Little Or No Maintenance

PV (Photovoltaic) cells that are used in solar energy systems are capable of providing electricity to a home for many years.

PV cells are used in space and receive no maintenance at all, so when used for a home solar energy system they require little or no maintenance.

In fact, the manufacturers are so confident that their PV cells will last that they offer up to 25 years warranty.

You just need to check with your supplier and installer about what their servicing requirements are to make sure you meet with your Warranty terms.

Usually the most it would require would be an annual check up, and if you negotiate a good deal with your supplier to include their annual or bi-annual service as part of their sales and installation contract, you might get this service included for a very minimal costs.

Improve The Quality Of Life And Reduce Demand For Non-Biodegradable Material

There is a lot of concern about global warming and the decrease of the earth's resources so by using solar powered energy you are helping to save the planet and save the resources it has left.

Helping to save the planet and using an energy system that keeps the air clean it is improving the quality of life to all individuals.

With normal electricity supply, there are many materials used in building systems of power lines, including electric cable and steel.

These materials themselves require energy to produce, giving off more greenhouse gas emissions.

By using solar energy the demand for these materials is lower reducing air pollution once again.

If you want to help the environment and save money on your energy bills then consider installing a solar energy system into your home and receive the many benefits that it offers.

The Many Uses of Solar Powered Energy

Grid-Tied Residential Homes

You can use solar energy in your home hand in hand with your current electricity provider.

This can be perfect for those people who live in places where sunlight is not in abundance all year round.

It is also great for those who want to use solar energy as a backup to their existing power source. If you have both solar power and the usual power source then you can have uninterrupted power supply all year round.

The huge benefit of having a grid-tied solar energy system in your home is that when you produce more energy from the solar energy system than what you are using, your electric meter will actually turn backwards.

The power that is generated by your system and you don't use is sent out to the grid and other households can then use that power.

The good news for you is that your DIY Solar Power meter goes backwards and then your electric provider will pay you for your power that other households are using.

Another benefit is if you have security lights around your home, these can use up to five times more power than a household's daily energy requirement, so you can use the solar energy to power these lights and use your other power source for your normal household electricity.

Your solar energy system may produce power for some areas in your home while others use the usual electricity source.

You can use the solar energy for lighting, cooking, water heating or whatever source uses the most energy.

Let's Take A Look At Some Of The Other Ways That We Can Use Solar Energy.

Corporate Buildings

Many corporate companies are now turning to solar energy systems to power their electricity and save on electricity bills.

PV cells can be installed on rooftop or on their atria.

Although the installation can be expensive the money they save on electricity bills long term is well worth the initial installation cost.

Off-Grid Homes

Solar energy systems can be particularly beneficial if you have a farm house or cabin house that isn't near any power grids.

Solar energy can be a great source of electricity if you are not near any other power supply.

Holiday homes that are in a location that receives a lot of sun can really benefit from solar powered energy.

Signs and Street Lights

Street lights and signs consume large amounts of energy which is usually drawn from conventional fossil fuels.

This puts a huge demand on these energy sources and is also extremely bad for the environment.

Some cities are now installing street lights and signs that use solar powered systems to store power during the day and then it is used at night.

This saves the city money and is much better for the environment.

Recreational Application

Marine vehicles and RVs use small amounts of power that are usually drawn from the engine.

When power is drawn from the engine it consumes fuel and also emits greenhouse gases.

Many owners are now charging their batteries with solar panel, saving them money on fuel and also reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Thank your for dropping by and taking time to comment. Solar power is a big deal for me, I have had solar heating unit fitted to my roof cavity, and had 10 solar panels fitted for 10k power that works through the power grid. I'm looking forward to my first electricity bill since it was all formally connected... the gas central heating bill was 10% of what it was same time last spring, thanks to the hot air in the roof being circulated into the house in the warming spring days --- woot woot!
