Aqua aerobics is good for those injured, undergoing rehabilitation, the elderly, pregnant women, those who haven't exercised in a while, and those who are overweight

you can change the intensity by altering the speed and size of your movements

non weight bearing

the water provides resistance, from all directions

classes from beginner to advanced

you generally burn more calories due to the resistance of the water. However, this will depend on your own technique. It is easy to slack off and actually burn less calories!

Disadvantages Of Water Aerobics 

You can burn less calories than you think depending on your exercise technique. That's why a good instructor is a real benefit. They can help you keep the intensity going

it can be more expensive than regular aerobics because of the cost of the pool entry

Some aqua aerobics tips:

do warm ups beside the pool

make sure you wash the chlorine off afterwards!

make sure you are well hydrated - drink water before, during, and after class

you don't need to know how to swim as the classes are held in shallow or deep (but standing) water. If you can't swim, do wear flotation devices as a precaution

the depth of water depends on the exercise - jogging is done in chest deep water, for example
