Introduction to Benefits of Vitamin D

Dense bones, best teeth and gums, beautiful skin, healthy organs, normal body size, perfect heart, great mood, high immunity for everyone including men, women, and children of all phases of life.

When you open up your D supplement make a concerted effort to take your daily dose every day until it's gone. The fresher the better. Actually, if you can take it all within two weeks that is the absolute best bang for the buck.

Sunlight is great. Never mind the bad press.

Overall internal body life is your protection. The state of your skin is a good indication of your health. There's a reason why liver spots are called that. Take care of your skin, deal with spots...plenty of natural means.

If you're too busy to grow, shop, or prepare food correctly (think: ethnic) then consider "space food": high quality powders that go into delicious shakes etc. That way you can get a daily cleanse instead of stressing on toxic buildup through just living and breathing. Just take a substitute, which may actually be much better for you than your favourite food. That way you're getting your Vitamin D in synergy (not isolated).

Just covering the always exposed skin, but uncovering the less exposed areas between about 10 am and 2 pm whenever possible. Then you'll receive the full benefits of Vitamin D in the form of life-giving sunlight. Build up slowly then make it a good habit.

Did you know that the sun converts cholesterol just under the skin into usable D? Don't just leave it "as is" by avoiding the sun! Listen, it's all good: all skin, fur, wool, feathers act in the same way in response to the sun. That's just the way we are all made.

Benefits for Men

Vitamin D

One word: nude

Two words: hair growth

There's more Vitamin D receptors in your sex organs and the roots of your hair than just about anywhere else in the body. If I were you I would not wait for the mice with the Beatles' hair cuts to get all the fun before the man studies are completed.

By the way, it was the mice who were nude and then dramatically gained their fur (PubMed: "Vitamin D3 analogs seem to act on keratinocytes to initiate hair follicle cycling and stimulate hair growth in mice that otherwise do not grow hair.")

To win you've got to crush the competition...and I don't know if you noticed but world systems are the enemy and would rather you were asleep. So be a wild man and hunt the sun or get your advantage with Vitamin D supplements.

That pot belly has got to go...huh, would you look at that: those with the highest D levels weighed in un-fat every time. I'd call that a win!

Tons of studies show improved athletic performance. It should be no mystery by now that summer is your peak, because of the sun.

Test your muscle strength: how easy is it for you to do a squat and stand up with control? That is a good indication of your D levels, but get tested to be sure. And keep it up.

Vitamin D benefits your reaction time, balance, and gait speed. That means: no falling allowed. Protects your nerves, that's why.

And another thing: maybe not in your youth but when you're way older this hormone will preserve your muscle strength.

What else? No chronic pain. Part of that is due to getting your calcium back into your bones where is belongs. Visual: calcification of tissues is a bit like being an old fossil. Better to have resilience in the soft tissue.

The boring bits: there's lots of science reports on the benefits of Vitamin D in lowering: heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, MS, depression, 17 types of cancer, and killer diseases in general. Well, maybe not that boring.

Hey, if you're in this battle then forewarned is forearmed.

Benefits for Women

Vitamin D Menopause (Peri)

Hey ladies...we're a mystery even to ourselves. But an absolute essential ingredient to the mix we call life.

By the time you've reached this little post you've done a ton of research, haven't you? Probably you know more about the lives of others in relation to your own on a zillion health topics. Well, check this out: you can help your friends (if not yourself) with prudent use of Vitamin D.

If we were in charge "the man" would stop putting fluoride in our water and put magnesium in its place, clean the water with safe food grade hydrogen peroxide (works 5000% better than chlorine, which is ruining my hair!!) . All problems solved. Simple. Our sons and men not acting all crazy and being healthy instead.

Sigh...back to the benefits of Vitamin D for women: all that calcium we're taking had better be getting into our cells, that is, mostly in our bones and teeth, or else we're in big trouble! So D is the answer. Well, is key to "many an answer".

Random trivia: If you've ever experienced a hot flash or unexplained cold, you now know the meaning of "annoying".

Benefits of Vitamin D include: good mood, energy, pain free, right weight...the key is to keep your levels up to keep your benefits.

Gosh, everybody is so excited about our bones...you'd think our bones were their bones. Well, we think about our mothers and how they are faring. If they tend to be acidic then melting bones can be a problem. Which brings me to carefully crafted nutritional powders. These are so well put together that you can get on to bigger and better things, like your golf swing. It's because of the synergy, the testing, and the way it keeps our ph levels right. Less is more, so go easy.

The main thing to remember, if you forget everything else is: parathyroid. Try to be one step ahead of the doctor and his little knife and his bag of chemicals and hormones from...ugh! animals. Look, if you agree to losing your cute little parathyroid they'll give you Vitamin D to deal anyway.

Enjoy your hot tub and make sure you use the aforementioned food grade hydrogen peroxide in said tub. Stay away from as many chemicals as you can. Remember, you've spent a lifetime looking after others and living life. Life has a way of layering so detox daily so you can absorb the Vitamin D in your supplements. And if you've got anything to lose at this point in your life I'd say "mix it up", try something new which is tried and true: get out in the sun.

Now, now...I know what you're thinking "I'm a little um....imperfect". Okay, so here's what you do: you go to the tanning place that has the electronic ballast (should be silent) and slap down your 20 bucks every month and go there daily for 10 minutes. Now after a year, you go buy yourself a new bathing suit. You've been taking your Vitamin D supplement accordingly so you're feeling pretty good, lookin' good...you are good as it gets! That's actually because of the way you're carrying yourself now...you're structurally sound.

Lastly: thought I forgot about the hot flashes didn't you? Your body has been through the wars. And now certain parts are getting a rest. So, you might not like this but your adrenals could use some help with an adaptogen. Otherwise, your overall fat acts as an organ and takes over duties. You don't like the sound of this? Tell ya what, you have a glass of red wine everyday and tell me why the hot flashes have stopped and you're warmed up just right.

Benefits on Mood

Vitamin D

Uh oh...previous studies measured the wrong Vitamin D metabolite. So when we speak of the benefits of Vitamin D we are talking about D3.

Oh well, we had to start somewhere!

Even as far back as the late 90s an Australian study found that self-tested measures found benefits, in a short time (5 days!), in the late winter when people would get SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). That study used fairly low doses (400 & 800 IUs).

Another study tried a massive one-time dose of 100,000 IUs and, though a small group, it proved to be better than light therapy.

Germany and Finland measured blood serums levels of 25(OH)D and found that when levels went down in the winter people were depressed in Germany. Actually, in Finland people were in the same mood all year round and their measured levels stayed at the same low all year round.

Reduced sunlight = increasing depression. So, we can have the same benefits of 80+ years ago that the world enjoyed if we act on the notion that we've become urbanized, are working indoors, and avoiding the sun at all costs (misguided, in view of tsunami of emerging facts).

One weird study didn't tie in all the facts: said that higher bone density came with better mood. Scientists guessed that an unnamed steroid hormone was a factor. We shouldn't laugh, but "hello!" Vitamin D acts in that very way!

I won't bore you with all the details but the benefits of Vitamin D on the brain and nerves makes us smart enough to be happy, and increases glutathione levels...cool: brain detox.

Well, we don't know everything, but when killers diseases are kept at bay that tends to put us all in a good mood evidence shows. Actually, we really need to know more about this benefit related to major depression, which is the ultimate bad mood.

Mood and food: wild salmon, because the sunlight in winter is not strong enough.

If you want your summer sun benefits to last then build up your stores during that season to get you through the winter. "Natural" is not all it's cracked up to be when looking at the surface of things. Lots of barriers to sunlight to push past and replenished soils are best for crops.

A nice chemtrail-free day in summer is what I'm talking about. When is the last time you saw a real blue sky? No, no...not the pale blue. Don't know what I'm talking about? That's because our piercing blue skies are gone and unless you have coloured photos from a pretty long ago, say 1967, you might never have seen a real blue sky in your life!

Never mind, take your Vitamin D supplements until you can figure it out.

Benefits for Children

Vitamin D

The benefits on children's eyesight are amazing! When you encourage your little tyke to play outdoors a couple of hours daily their growing eyeballs develop properly and you will help them avoid near sightedness then and in their teen years through to adulthood. It's not actually all the TV, video games etc. It's actually the timing. Talk about the sunlight hours and the early evening hours simply with your child (time management?) and you may find that your smart little kid is reminding you about the benefits (right back at you!) of the precious daylight hours.

it's up to the parents to make Vitamin D supplements a regular routine with their children. And who knows, could be the practice will rub off on other parents through their children. To be true your mate and your own blood levels of Vitamin D ought to be up and kept up before becoming pregnant. That is super important. Remember the Shaken Baby Syndrome? Guess what: we misjudged people completely in an unjust series of accusations because the effect of the birth process on D-less babies was not understood.

So the benefits of Vitamin D on children is to keep their innocent parents out of prison! And starts way earlier than we imagined. Still, it's never too late, and the benefits received are dependent on each and every individual child. Some need more and some less according to reports from mothers involving twins.

Raising children is heroic and many smart parents see tangible benefits to their own children by monitoring, maybe even taking notes, on Vitamin D doses. You've done a wonderful job in giving your child a solid foundation in life-long health. You may not always be thanked, and the absolute absence of rickets may not be immediately apparent but you've done right by adding Vitamin D to the benefits of sunlight.

You've heard of air baths? Well, then remember sunbathing. And you may see benefits from day one when treating mild jaundice (with sunshine) in your newborn to help its little liver. Also, you have no idea what's really in sunscreen or sunblock! Children are susceptible to chemicals in lotions. Just use a little cold-pressed coconut oil, cocoa oil or olive oil on the kidlets' tender skin. Other oils are all rancid before they even get bottled.

You know, it ought to be easier to sift the wheat from the chaff when it comes to what's good and not good for our children. Just remember, good doctors like to say "listen to what the parent is saying".

Also, give your children a good start by breastfeeding, your own common sense and acting on the studies you've found about nutrients that you pass on to your infant. Maybe you're the one that should benefit from drinking the formula pushed on babies! And remember that good gut (flora) is key to the additional benefit of Vitamin D saturated receptors.

Other benefits: sweet dispositions, disease free, smarts, perfect teeth and bones development, helps cell growth, immunity, cell metabolism, breathing and sleeping well.

Relax and have fun. You're doing fine!

Benefits for Heart Disease

Vitamin D

Love that pump. Wow, we are just about bowled over by the sheer volume of the benefits of Vitamin D on heart disease!

Now heart disease in many ways is simply your body fixing, repairing, patching its byways with sticky stuff. Basically inflammation is the cause of lesions that need healing.

Studies are underway to settle the question once and for all whether there are benefits for heart disease. Proponents say enough evidence is in to warrant supplements.

Now heart attacks are a whole lot of un-fun. And the worst part is not knowing: who is at risk? why are they? What can be done now? How do you know how much to dose and how often? When will you know "enough" has been reached and level off?

We've been minding our own business, living our lives but as we age it's in our face...everywhere we turn there's talk of it. Even in our own family.

The benefits to heart disease are real and being confirmed again and again.

You can actually supplement in any way, shape or form, at any time of the day or night, with any sort of food or not, at regular daily doses, once or twice a day, or single high dose per week says Dr. Cannell.

From November to February in the northern latitudes you get zilch from the sun. Just being real here. Not only where you are but who you are is important: how much you weigh, how much pigment the sun needs to get through, AND what time of year it is. A little excess in the summer is not problem, in fact it's meant to be stored and used later. Like a bank account.

Maybe you won't get full benefit from modern cod liver oil, because the higher Vitamin A competes with the Vitamin D receptors.

Heart disease is inversely related to sunlight exposure.

Prevent heart disease: this phrase is not without gut-wrenching power. That means: not suffer it at all. So the benefit of Vitamin D for heart disease is as simple as finding out your personal dose needed and filling it.

The findings for that study was presented at the 59th annual Atlanta scientific session held in March 2010 by the American College of Cardiology.

In 2007 Boston University School of Medicine published a study headed by Dr. Michael Holick that proved that in blood serum levels both Vitamin D2 and Vitamin D3 could be used equally to raise levels. The results also appeared online in the December 7th issue of Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism in 2010.

The real benefit is a relief of worry and the beginnings of new life for those who were under threat but now take action on their heart health.

Dr. Edward Giovannucci of the Harvard School of Public Health and Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston said the speculation on why risk of heart disease is slashed in half is as follows:

- lower blood pressure
- regulate inflammation
- lower calcification of blood vessels
- affect the heart muscle
- reduce lung infections in winter

Being young at heart means calcium is not stuck in your tissues making them stiff so giving you a pliable heart.

Hey, where there's no fear, there is love.
