My Robot Bento Entry

Hi, I'm Asfora from Bento Box Blog Here is my entry for the Robot Competition in the Kawaii Bento Club!

See below for the ingredients!

How I made the Robot Bento

Ingredients and Features

robot bento

I started off with a Tasty Red Rice for the main dish ingredient of the bento. The tasty red rice is made by finely chopping aubergine (eggplant), courgettes (Zucchini) and onion, frying them in a pan with a little oil, then adding tinned, chopped tomatoes and half cooked rice, then letting it slowly simmer and dry out. The full recipe is here Tasty Red Rice. The robot head is made from cucumber and cheese with holes cut out for the eyes, so that the cucumber shows through the cheese for the transparant lenses and I used a couple of black eyed beans for the pupils. I used some food picks for the LED antennae and side bolts. His body is cucumber too with carrot "switches". His arms are made out of Egg Sheet which I made using Lia's recipe from Bentolicious. The egg sheet is wonderfully bendy and is concertina'd onto food picks to give them an extendable look! His track rollers are made from sultanas and I put some baked banana chips and chocolate chips to make the Caterpillar roller tracks. The last ingredient is broccoli for decoration and for nutrition!

Woohoo, I love it! The transparent lenses on his eyes are super cool and very clever. The little carrot nuts make for a very mechanical garnish too. Thank you for entering the Robot Bento Design Contest and good luck!
