"The Gardens of the World" in Berlin-Marzahn, one of the many districts of Berlin, the capital of Germany, makes it possible. It is one huge park, and by strolling through it you can visit one garden after the other.

A place to go to when you've got a bit of time in Berlin

Berlin has quite a lot of parks. Small ones and big ones, not so famous ones and famous ones.
One of the parks which have got quite a name is the "Gardens of the World" park in Berlin-Marzahn. It is a bit off the usual tourist paths, but you can easily reach it with public transport.
It is one park with many gardens, so you can study oriental garden culture, Chinese, Japanese and Korean gardens. There is also a European Renaissance Garden.

This is the entrance to the Oriental Garden. On the walls of oriental buildings you won't find images of plants, people or animals. You will only find ornaments. The favorite color is blue. The longer you will look at this photo the more details you will find.

Chinese Garden in Marzahn

Chinese gardens were created in order to achieve harmony between earth, stones, water, buildings, plants, paths and the sky. When this harmony was achieved man could find perfect harmony in these gardens.Stone and water are essential parts of these gardens.
Chinese gardens don't have straight paths. The Chinese believed that evil only goes straight ways.

The Japanese Garden

Japanese Garden in Berlin-Marzahn

This Japanese Garden is a so-called "stone-garden" or "Zen-garden". Pebbles symbolize water. (You can almost see water ripples here, can't you?). Monks would rake these pebbles every day, meditating when doing so.

    we used to live in Berlin and loved this place. During the warm month on Sundays they still or used to have this Asian food market, where you can sample all kinds of different food!

    It sounds like a wonderful place. There are some gardens close to where I grew up (Compton Acres) which have gardens from all different countries. It's a great place to visit.
