A piano is subject to many stresses during its lifetime. To maintain a healthy piano it worth considering the following

1. The climatic conditions in which it is kept
- A piano prefers to remain at a steady temperature 17 -21 is ideal. Humidity is best at around a constant 50%. Beware of central heating in a room, placing near a radiator, direct sunlight.
2. How often the piano is played? - The regular practise of a concert pianist will obviously affect the piano more than occasional use.
3. Has the piano been regularly maintained?
- Over time and use, the pianos pitch will change which will require a tuning. The touch of the piano will deteriorate which is remedied by regulating the piano action . Voicing is afeected by the condition of the hammer felts, this too can be balanced by a piano technician.
4. Treat your piano like a beautiful piece of furniture.
- Do not place drinks on the cabinet, or vases which could leave rings ordamage the pianos polish.
