I'm making this page about Pearl Jam because there was a time in my life where every word, every beat of every song on their opening album beat loads into my life. I could feel, I could relate, I could understand. Ten was just about one of the best rock albums that I ever heard. I can remeber a friend of mine calling me from Dallas at about 3 in the morning after leaving one of their smaller venues when they were first starting out telling me all about them and hearing some of the passion in his voice that it really touched him. I was like dude, it's 3 A.M., I'll call you tomorrow, and I'm glad I did. The angst, the youthfullness, the beats and the lyrics, everything I was looking for at the time.

It spoke to me, with all the pretty colors...

All been washed in Black, and tattooed everything. This left a permanent mark in my life like the black he's talking about in the song. When I first heard it, I think I must've listened to it over and over and over like a hundred times that day. So powerful, strong and embracing, and when he wails in the end that nice "yea-ha-a", oh, still makes me feel it!

The 5 best songs by Pearl Jam

Probably one of the best songs that I've ever heard was "Black" by Pearl Jam. That and "Yellow Ledbetter". I did have my chance to see them in concert and do have to say one of the more touching songs came during a solo by Eddie himself. He walked out to the end of the stage, sat down with his guitar and gave the best version of "Passion" I'd ever heard. I'd never heard "Evenflow" played live until then and must say, that even though that is one of their most popular songs probably, it's tops in my book. And who can ever forget "Jeremy", based off a true undertaking.

Why buy the whole album when you only need one song. I hate that, pay top dollar for an album and then find that only one or two songs were really worth it. I do have to say though, if you are getting "Ten", every song is worth every penny. Oh well, if not, it's also a great way to get some live songs they do as well.
