My Best R & B Love Songs

Rhythm and blues, is a genre of music popular among black people. The term R&B originated in the 1940's, and was used by record companies to describe recordings marketed predominantly to urban black's, at a time when rocking, jazz-based music with a heavy, continuous beat was becoming more popular.

The term R&B has changed over the years. Rhythm and Blues was responsible for the development of rock and roll, starting in the 1950's. After rock and roll, R&B became used to refer to music styles that incorporated electric blues, as well as gospel and soul music. By the 1970s, R&B was used as a blanket term for soul and funk. A newer style of R&B developed, during the 1980's, becoming known as contemporary R&B.
