ABBA: The Best Pop Group Ever

Ranked #2,649 in Music, #76,733 overall

ABBA: The Definitive Collection

ABBA was one of the most popular groups of the Seventies and Eighties, and at one time, they were second only to car company SAAB as Sweden's highest revenue earner.

They have become one of the world's best selling bands, having sold around 400 million records worldwide. They still sell two to three million records a year. ABBA was also the first group from mainland Europe to enjoy consistent success in the pop charts of English-speaking countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, the Republic of Ireland, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Lately, the music of ABBA has been re-arranged into the successful musical Mamma Mia! which has toured around the globe spawning a movie version that was released in July 2008.

No better evidence that the group's songs are enduring, with many considering them the best pop band ever.

ABBA: Waterloo

The Song That Started It All

Although ABBA had released previous singles, it wasn't until 1974 when their song Waterloo won the Eurovision Song Contest that they hit the charts worldwide and the phenomenon began. This is Waterloo.

ABBA: The Final Single

1983: Under Attack

At the end of 1982, ABBA made their final appearance together as a band and released two singles that met with little interest: The Day Before You Came and Under Attack.

The former barely scraped into the UK Top 40 (No.32) while Under Attack made the Top 30 at No.26 in early 1983.

The ABBA Debate: Do You Agree?

Is ABBA the Best Pop Group Ever?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

Yes, definitely!

termit_bronx says:

Yes, top of the top in pop :)

nancycarol says:

Of course, and the proof is that EVERYONE remembers and loves their songs to this day. I saw Mama Mia here in Vegas, and it was terrific. There has been no pop group like ABBA since they split.

SeanVernall says:

Without a doubt. Hits like Dancing Queen will still get everyone dancing at a party regardless of their age. Will acts like Miss Spears be able to claim the same in 40 years time?

Srena44 says:

very nice lens... they are simply the best...

WordCustard says:

I don't think anyone's got them beat just yet...

lea says:

yes,it's got to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, I'll Tell You Which Is!

BSieracki says:

i would vote for the beatles first, abba #2

MTF-briguy says:

Would agree if the best female/male group but still think The Beatles are..
