Honoring the Best Performances from Great Actors
Since 1927, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has been honoring the best actor performances in a film or films for a given year. In the early years, actors were sometimes honored for their performance in multiple years. Two actors shared the honor in 1931 / 1932. Now actors are honored for a single performance, and the anticipation of who will receive the honor for the year often inspires conversation and debate.
Great male performances are sprinkled throughout film history. Although the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences cannot honor every magnificent performance, it has certainly captured some of the brightest moments. Best Actor Winners are deserving of honor and remembrance.
