Attending doctors and specialists resulted with me being diagnosed as having some wear and tear on my lower discs. The solution apparently was to feed me pain killers. Most of you in my position will know that some of these pain killers have nasty side effects like nausea and constipation, that is about the time I started to look at alternative therapies such as acupressure mats to see if I could gain some relief from the constant pain that I was suffering.

I have three mats in the house one for me one for my mother and one for my wife and we all love it.
It helps me fall asleep if im having cases of insomnia due to stress or if i am too tense. I've also found that it helps untie the knots in my back.

I decided to give this product a try based on reviews of acupressure mats. I'm so glad I decided to try this one from Super Deals/ Hemingweigh acupressure mat. It is a little intense at times-- so you may want to use a thin cloth over the spikes when starting out. But I have found this to be helpful in reducing pain levels and also had improved sleep from use. In fact, I often end up falling asleep on the mat when using it!

When you first start using it it hurts at first but after awhile you start getting use to the feel of it. The "nails" are made of plastic and do not hurt you. It's best to start gradually with a thin shirt and then eventually with no shirt at all. I like it because you can put it on any part of your body and you will feel the blood flow going towards the skin.

It really is a wonderful product. I use it regularly, with relaxing music, and always feel invigorated afterward. I also take it with me while traveling. 10-15 minutes on my Shakti mat is so restorative! And as far as it being faddish, I understand what the other reviewer is trying to convey...but if you're into maintaining your health or improving it, I recommend it.

    I have been doing acupuncture for a while and love it. I now you can take home beads, but I had not heard about the mats. I also think you should look at Joint Formula14 for pain relief. It has done wonders for me!
