Choosing the Right Tablet

  If you are buying a tablet for portability, then you really need to consider it's weight and dimensions. If it needs to fit in a pocket, then a 4 or 5" screen is great. If in only needs to be light enough to assure your backpack is easy to tote around, then a 10" screen may be fine. However, if you want a larger screen for web browsing, gaming, or enjoying movies then that also needs to be taken into account.

  If you are going to be loading up on apps, games, video, photos, and/or music, then you need plenty of memory. You need to consider the internal memory and the expansion capabilities as well. Tablets run the gamut. Some offer a 250GB hard drive with no expansion capability while others offer only a GB or two with a microSD slot for expansion.

  As you consider screen size, also think about resolution. If you will be gaming and watching movies, then a great looking screen can make it better. Tablets offer touch screens, but comparing responsiveness can help assure your satisfaction too.

  Be sure you will get the connections you need. For instance, without an SD or microSD card slot you'll need to connect to your PC for things. If you want to view things on an HDTV, you'll need HDMI connections. If you'll be a power user, you may even want to determine whether or not you'll want the ability to connect to a physical keyboard to boost your comfort and productivity when needed.

  If you enjoy music and video on your tablet, or like to immerse yourself in games, then audio shouldn't be neglected. Integrated stereo speakers especially with surround sound are great. Of course a headphone jack is important too if you want a bit of privacy.

  Just as with any computer, you want to consider the processor. More processing power means more speed, more multi-tasking capabilities, and so forth. Dual core processors, 1Ghz or more are becoming standard.
• 9Battery Life
  
  Just as with a smartphone or a laptop, you don't want to run out of power when you need it most.
• 10Price
  
  You want to compare purchase price and the cost associated with any data plan. Some tablets are Wi-Fi only (less expensive) and others come with a cellular data plan subscription (allows you to operate even if a Wi-Fi hotspot isn't nearby).
