You will have heard this before, and I'll make no apologies for saying it again. Content is king when it comes to the Internet. Fresh and relevant content both on your site, and in article directories feeding backlinks and page rank into your site, is the key to success. It is the lifeblood by which websites gain new audiences, keep existing ones, and continually improve their page ranking in search engines.

It is a common misconception that submitting your website to search engines will lift your site up in the rankings. But the truth is that despite what the SEO companies say, this does not get your web page better ranking unless there is almost no competition. That is a misconception about Search Engine Optimization that has been going around for quite sometime.

Submitting your articles to article directories is the best way to promote your web site. If you think that you have no skills in writing just search for "Content Writers", or "Article Writers" and you will see a long list of sites that offer these services. You will find that article writing rates are not high and the articles you receive will be unique and therefore much more effective than PLR article content.

Submit you articles to Ezinearticles dot com first because this is the best article site, and all articles are read by a human before they are accepted. Rewrite the article by at least one third, and then submit it to the other top article directories.

The top article directories (e.g. Ezinearticles) produce statistics that show up in your member area, with details of how many people read your articles. As you develop your portfolio strategy and it becomes effective you can then boost your results by writing within your area of expertise and increasing your submission frequency.

Many of the top article directories will allow you to use html in your resource box. This means that you can hyperlink your keywords and everywhere your article, and hence your resource box with the hyperlinked keywords, are posted there is a keyword that links directly to your site.

For example, if your website is about cars and you trade links with a site about flowers, it probably won't help your site very much at all.

There are a number of Article Directory Submission softwares available, but only three that I have found which do this with one click once the have been set-up. The others simply help you to post to each Article Directory, by pasting in the article as you arrive on the site. However, these applications don't usually log you in beforehand, or select categories or pen name, and logging in manually to do this each time rapidly becomes a time consuming and tedious chore.

However, article directory submission provides free advertising and links, and it is a well established and dependable source of targeted traffic, which simply cannot be ignored.

So, we recommend that all those serious in marketing their web sites do at least invest in article submission software, if nothing else.
