The Colorful Palette of Traditional Mexican Recipes

Authentic Mexican RecipesMexican cuisine is comprised of ingredients from all around the world, and so it happens that many true Mexican recipes are full of color!

A lot of chefs who cook Mexican food attest to the colors available to them when crreating a dish, giving them plenty of visually pleasing ingredients to work with and create a masterpiece to serve to friends.

A great example of this is found in what is arguably the most popular salsa in the cuisine: Pico de Gallo, or as it's more commonly known by foreigners: "Salsa Mexicana". It blends the colors of the Mexican national flag: white (onion), red (tomato), and green (chile, cilantro, lime). It's a smash with the locals and a hit with smashed tourists, and you can use it to top of many different Mexican foods, so here's a great recipe for it:

Pico de Gallo (Salsa Mexicana)

INGREDIENTS:
(serves two HUNGRY people if used on tacos, fajitas, and the like)

- white onion - 1 small one
- tomato - a medium-size, red, firm, ripe, spherical shaped tomato
- cilantro - 1/4 of a bunch, just the leaves
- lime - 1 medium size one
- salt - 1/2 a table spoon
- *chile serano (serano pepper) - 1/2 of a peper, if you want the authentic taste. If you really don't like spicy food, leave this ingreditent out.

PREPARATION:

Using a sharp knife, chop the small white onion into small pieces and put in a bowl.

Then chop the tomato up and add to the bowl with the onion.

Chop the cilantro up into fine pieces and add to the bowl.

Into the bowl, squeeze all the juice out of your lime.

Chop up the chile serano pepper into fine bits, then add to the bowl. Be careful when cutting the chile because the juice of the chile can really irritate your skin if touched, so either wear gloves or use a fork to hold the chile when chopping it up.

Add 1/2 tablespoon of salt to the bowl, then mix it all with a spoon.

And you have your Salsa Mexicana!

Yet another one of many easy Mexican recipes that is destined to make your mouth water.
