    Backgammon is probably my favorite - though I do enjoy chess and monopoly. Unfortunately, I'm not much good at any of them! Great lens!

    Ah - all these games bring back memories! They were -- and still are -- among the 'greats' of games! My continued favorites are Yahtzee and Scrabble, but I fondly remember Battleships and Monopoly, of course! Featuring this lens on my 'Games & Puzzles' lens. Nicely done.

    Cool list of old favorite board games. I loved playing Candy Land, Sorry and Trouble the most. These board games bring back lots of fun memories when I was little and when my kids were little, too. :)

    My favoriate board game is Monopoly. But it takes so long to setup. By the time you set it up you dont feel like playing anymore. All these versions of Monopoly they have. Over 10 years ago I went into a game store in one place they must had about 10 college based Monopoly versions. Those all based on Monopoly but have things based on their campus. Thank you for sharing!

    I'm such a sucker for these classic board games! My favorite is Life...followed by Candy Land, then checkers, then Monopoly, then Scrabble, then, Yatzee... etc. etc.

    You have so many listed! It was fun to see all of these names again.

    Monopoly is definitely one of my faves. I have a few of them. My Mum's game which is probably the original with the wooden tokens, green houses and red motels; the 40th anniversary edition that my Grandma gave me for my birthday one year. And a Mahogany one with gold and silver plated tokens, houses and hotels from the Franklin Mint. Still, my all time favourite board game is Scrabble. I would have liked to have gotten my hands on the Mahogany one of those. My cousin has one.

    Great lens! Monopoly and Yatzee were always my two favorite games growing up :o) When my kids got old enough, we dug them out and taught them to play (they're still awesome!) Excellent topic and very well done - 5*

    Thanks this is a fantastic lens on board games - my all time favorite board game is still Monopoly the "Original Version" although we have had fun playing designer versions of Monopoly for me its the basics.

    Board games are gaining popularity with the adults now too. An evening of games and popcorn are replacing an evening out. It's a part of our budget cutting efforts anyway.

    I particularly like Monopoly. It is simple but so much fun. We are playing it a lot at the moment and it is great to see how my 6 year old is getting good at mental arithmetic.

    Wow.. I never realized there were so many types. You gotta love monopoly, not only is it fun but it teaches kids money calculations and about life. It's an all time classic for many many years to come. 5* well done!

    I'm so surprised at how many types of Monopoly there are, Ice cream monopoly sounds oddly interesting. Halfway through I had to have a 15 min break... Great lens and on a subject close to my heart. Board games of the past should and are making a comeback. The best kind of family fun. Well done on a lovely piece of work.. 5*

    I just bought my nieces a National Parks Monopoly game for XMAS, I know they'll love it! There's not beating these classic games, I agree. Excellent work!

    You know, our kids have always loved board games and we still play them when we're all together. What's so cool is that we get everyone - from our 8 year old granddaughter to us (the grandparents) involved and everyone has a wonderful time. This is such a good lens idea. Thanks!

    Fantastic Lens! Monopoly is a great game. But you can't beat Chess, Yahtzee or Risk, for a good game of strategy.

    Am I right, Battleship evolved out of the game "Salvo" given away by the Signal Oil Company during the war? Initially intend for service men they started to give it to the public but then cut back because they felt that they only had enough for the boys fighting the war.

    A plethora of Monopolies, had no idea there were so many.

    My favourite boardgame is Scrabble ... best word I had in play, gazetted - it took in two triple word scores and the z landed on the triple letter. Thank goodness my opponent's sister was on the phone at the time to hear it or I wouldn't have been believed. Score = 221 (one of the letters was a blank)date 20th December 06. We record highscores inside the box lid :-)

    I grew up playing board games. It took some effort to get my children interested, it was hard to compete with video games, but once they started playing them, they were hooked.

    Great lens! Games are wonderful for family interaction. We love em! Our grandchildren - Preschoolers -love Zingo and Trouble! As I read your lens, I was reminded of playing Monopoly in my own childhood, and also as a newlywed, and then with my childen. some games live on forever. Scrabble and Monopoly are both in that category.
