Call of Duty: Game of the Year Edition



The very first Call of Duty game was developed by Infinity Ward in 2003. It laid the foundation for all the sequels of the Call of Duty games with the iron sights, grenades (though 8 were allowed), weapon with side arm. One feature which was not continued into the series (and which some people want badly) was the ability to toggle between single shot and automatic mode on some guns. Graphics were decent in comparison to games in the time period but are nothing compared to newer games in the series. 3 campaigns (American, British, Soviet) were viewed as being fun but too short. Many people found the multiplayer gameplay fun but when played nowadays is relatively boring with no perks, kill streaks, or attachments. Do you think Call of Duty 1 was the best Call of Duty?

Call of Duty 2



Call of Duty 2 was without a doubt one of the best Call of Duty games ever made by InfinityWard. Although it does not feature amazing killstreaks or an extensive class creation system, its simplicity was just as addicting to many gamers. In multiplayer one would either play as a member of the Axis or Allies and your weapons and grenades would reflect that. Most COD players consider this the COD game that took the most skill with strict gunfights, even melee lunge and sprinting were not available. The campaign was very similar to COD 1 with 3 stories.

Call of Duty 3 Platinum Hits



Call of Duty 3 is the third game in the Call of Duty series and the first COD made by Treyarch. Although it was liked moderately by most critics, almost all COD gamers favored Call of Duty 2 over 3. A number of new features were introduced such as sprinting as well as individual class abilities which could be considered the root of the modern cod customization system. Vehicles were also introduced as well as much 3x bigger battles with 12v12s. Most gamers also thought the World War campaigns were getting both repetitive and boring. One of the reasons this COD game did not reach the expectations of most gamers was because of the short production time, 8 months.

Call of Duty 4 : Modern Warfare



The 4th Call of Duty in the series, the 3rd made by InfinityWard, and the 1st COD game in the Modern Warfare series, Call of Duty truly exceeded the expectations of most gamers and is considered by many to be the best COD game yet. Winning multiple game of the year awards, Call of Duty Modern Warfare finally split from the WW2 time period to focus on a game that took place during "modern" times. Killstreaks and class customization including perks and attachments were both introduced to widespread approval as well as the level up system. Although eventually the diversity of classes and guns funneled down to pure m16s with stopping power, the multiplayer was still extremely addicting. The campaign was also the most epic of the series with many breath taking moments as well as a decent story.

Call of Duty: World at War (Xbox 360)



Call of Duty World at War was the 5th installment in the COD series authored by Treyarch. Once again going back to its WW2 roots, Call of Duty 5 also provided an amazing experience for most gamers. Featuring the same class customization and killstreak system as COD 4, COD WAW tried to refine InfinityWard's system rather then radically change it. Sadly game balance absolutely failed with one gun, the MP40 destroying any others with LMGs and shotguns doing especially bad.Tanks were introduced in COD 5 as well as the much more popular Nazi Zombie mode. Campaign took place in the Pacific with Americans and the invasion of Germany by the Russians and was fairly fun.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2



Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, also known as Call of Duty 6 was the second installation in the Modern Warfare series produced by InfinityWard. Unlike Call of Duty 5, COD MW2 radically changed the Call of Duty series adding many new features and added huge number of members to the Call of Duty community. It added huge killstreaks, new attachments, pro perks and new perks.Initially people loved these upgrades to the game and predicted it would be the best Call of Duty game ever, however as cool as these new features worked, they also lead to the games inevitable downfall. Nukes promoted camping and boosting as well as the other high kill streaks. Tons of glitches made the game a joke at times. And the famed One Man Army, Danger Close, Noobtube combo killed any level of skill required. On a side note MW2 also built on the epic COD 4 campaign with a unspectacular if somewhat controversial series of missions as well as a cool series of multiplayer missions known as Spec Ops.

Call of Duty: Black Ops



Call of Duty Black Ops is the latest installation in the COD series created by Treyarch. It takes place during the Cold War era and is the first Call of Duty game in the series to do so. In Call of Duty Black Ops many much needed changes took place. Nukes were removed as were tactical insertions in FFA. One Man Army was removed and the noobtube was also nerfed. Recoil was added back into the game as well as the Nazi Zombie game mode. Class customization was changed with currency and killstreaks kills do not count toward your current killstreak. Although many people like the multiplayer experience common complaints include poor graphics and the RCXD car. Also added were Wager Matches mode as well as a theater were you can record your clips. Call of Duty Black Ops campaign was also a blast, and was extremely well received by critics.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
