The Best Cheap Camera for Vacation

Ranked #5,978 in Travel & Places, #167,910 overall

I recommend any of the Kodak EasyShare cameras to take with you on vacation...

If you're worried about taking your expensive camera on vacation, purchase a cheap Kodak EasyShare camera to take along. Your photos will turn out wonderful and you won't have to worry about losing your expensive camera, or worse yet, having it stolen.

I bought the Kodak EasyShare C182, 12 mega pixal camera last year (2010). It's the only camera I use for all of my grandkid's birthday parties and school events. I love that I can record videos of the grandkids, too. I've used it so much for countless pictures and videos and it has never failed me. The price was very reasonable, and lucky for me, it was also on sale at the time. I couldn't be happier with this camera and really have no need for a more expensive one.

Features of the Kodak EasyShare Camera

Leaving on VacationThe Kodak EasyShare software feature allows you to upload and share your favorite pictures and videos using the Share button. You can also edit and crop your photos right on the camera! Other than the Smart Capture setting (for general picture taking), it has 6 other settings: Program (access to all settings), Blur reductions (reduces blur when subject is moving), video (captures motion and sound), Close Up (closer than 28 inches), Sport (fast action photos), portrait (full frame photos of people and subjects).

Some people may not like that it uses 2 AA batteries, but I already had a charger and rechargable AA batteries, so that hasn't been a problem. Just make sure you keep extra batteries with you, because the videos take up a lot of battery power. You might prefer the Kodak EasyShare M341 Digital Camera, which uses a Lithium-Ion battery and will last much longer than alkaline batteries. You'll have to remember to take your charger with you. Just like a cell phone, these batteries can be recharged many times.

You will need a Sandisk 4GB Memory Card for your camera. The camera alone will not store many photos. With a memory card, you can store all of your vacation photos on the card and when you get home, download them into your computer. And, don't forget a Camera Case to protect your camera.

This is the Kodak EasyShare Camera that I bought. It has a 12 magapixel resolution and 3X optical zoom. The Smart Capture feature will automatically adjust camera settings, so you don't have to. (That is a big bonus for me!) The 3 inch LCD screen is so-o-o nice. The camera was very easy to learn to use, even for me. You view instructions right on the screen or you can download an instruction manual. I'm not a photographer by any stretch of the imagination, but have had excellent results with clear photographs and video with this camera. Oh, and one last thing...this camera is also available in bue, red, and purple. I chose silver for mine. Be sure and purchase a Sandisk 4GB Secure Digital SD HC Memory Card to store all of your vacation photos safely and securely.

Goes on vacation...

I purchased this camera for my grandson, Scott, to take with him on a vacation to Texas and then on to Iowa. He took many pictures in route and loves the camera.

The Kodak EasyShare M341 is a 12.2 megapixel camera and features a 3X optical zoom, 2.7 inch LCD screen, and smart capture for perfect photos every time. A unique feature you might like is the On-Camera Panorama Stitch Mode, which will combine up to three shots into one large picture!

You will also need a Lithium-Ion Battery and Charger for this camera, but this battery will last much longer than the alkaline batteries and can be recharged just like a cell phone. I like the fact that this one small battery makes the camera itself so much smaller and lightweight.

The Flower Setting

Using the Macro Feature

My grandson, Scott, was 17 last year when I gave him his first camera, the Kodak EasyShare M341 Digital Camera shown above. He tried it out at home and a couple of weeks later he was showing me the pictures he'd taken. He had several photos of flowers and I told him how pretty they were. He said, "there is a setting for flowers on the camera, so I was trying it out." I couldn't figure that out, and realized he thought the little symbol for "Close Up", which is indeed a flower, was what he meant. I then explained to him what that setting actually is. (Sorry, Scott, just had to tell that story on you.)

You will need a camera case...

protect your camera!

Don't neglect getting a camera case. Even though this camera is small enough, you can damage the camera by carrying it in your pocket. Kodak will not replace cameras that have been broken due to negligence. Camera screens are easily scratched and cracked. With no view finder other than the screen, you will be wise to protect it. Keep a soft cloth in your camera bag for cleaning. This camera case will attach to your belt and your camera will always be with you and protected from damage.

Will you be taking a Kodak camera on your vacation this year?

Most everyone, at one time or another, has owned a Kodak camera. It was my first camera, and the same brand I own today. What are your thoughts? Will you be taking a Kodak on your vacation this year? I'd love it if you left a note and let me know you were here. :)
