While these night vision googles maybe rated for kids age 8 and up, don't dismiss these puppies as mere toys. These super stealth goggles allow you to see in absolute darkness using infrared illumination and yes, they really work.

EyeClops Night Vision goggles come equipped with a hinged, flip-up eye-piece that can be opened when the goggles are turned off, or closed when the goggles are in use and when I first turned these on I was surprised at the function this baby gave for the price. I could easily see over 50 feet in complete darkness and the display and unit fit comfortably on my head. A small switch on the side of the goggle head-set allowed me to switch from a black-and-white to a green screen display.

Powered by actual infra-red driven night vision technology I found that the EyeClops Night Vision gave me clear visibility which is why these take the number ONE spot in my choice for cheap night vision goggles.

#2 On our list of great night vision googles is the Night Owl Tactical Binocular Goggles Night Owl is a company that is widely recognized for setting and exceeding the standards in night vision optics, and the tactical Binocular Goggles are no exception. The thing I liked about this unit was you can use the Bincoculars by themselves or you can attach them to the supplied headgear and go full out in stealth mode.

Being of course a full blown gear geek I couldn't resist the feel and look of having the binoculars attached to the head gear. It was comfortable to wear and with the ability of a pushbutton makes this a hands free operation. And should the binoculars get in your way, you can simply flip them up and out of the line of vision. Great for those in dark nerf battles.

The lens is 26mm and is housed in a compact housing making the whole unit very light to wear. All Night Owl lenses are also coated specifically for nighttime viewing to further enhance light gathering and image brightness and I was amazed at the clarity and vision these gave in total darkness. Overall i would give these a rating of 8 out of 10 for clarity and detail.

So if you are looking for high end performance in night vision optics but can afford a set up in price from the eyeclops then you should consider the Night Owl Tactical Binocular Goggles They may be more expensive then the eyeslops but in performance you can't beat it and with a price tag of around $500 bucks they still fall into my category for cheap night vision.

Bushnell Night Vision Goggle with Headgear is a great unit for the price. Again at around 500 bucks these are another great choice to consider for the budget conscious gadget geek. Featuring a compact design and great optics I found that the bushnell offered superior vision even in the lowest of light conditions.

Ideal for camping, caving and observing all the wildlife at night this unit performed really well. Of course it was equally suited to the task of my favorite pasttime, night time nerf wars. walking around with it took some getting used to, but I can't complain, since the quality and clarity was exceptional.

Very comfortable to wear and the price being right still make this a great choice for those not wanting to sacrifice quality.

No review of cheap night vision goggles would be complete without mentioning the ATN Viper Gen 1+ 1x Expandable Night Vision Goggle System. Sure these may be the highest end in price for what I still consider as cheap night vision but with what you get in terms of quality is unsurpased. These night vision goggles are as close as you can get to military night vision and it's no joke when I say these puppies are amazing.

Perfect for hunting, camping, boating, or surveillance, this goggle system makes it easy to see in the dark while keeping your hands free for doing other things. As a first-generation, night-vision unit it features a magnification ratio of 1x, but offers the option of expanding to 4x or 8x. The ATN is extremely versatile: you can use it for hands-free activities such as fishing or paintball, as a compact monocular, or attach it to a camera for nighttime photography. This is one top notch unit.

The lens itself, features as a built-in IR illuminator with an automatic brightness control and an adjustable eyepiece. Making this a great addition to anyone wanting high end quality at a mid price. I mean it when I say everyone should have a pair, and then no one needs be afraid of the dark.
