A small switch on the side of the goggle head-set allowed me to switch from a black-and-white to a green screen display.

Next on my list of cheap night vision googles is the Night Owl Tactical Binocular Goggles Night Owl is a company that is widely recognized for setting and exceeding the standards in night vision optics, and the tactical Binocular Goggles are no exception. The thing I liked about this unit was you can use the Bincoculars by themselves or you can attach them to the supplied headgear and go full out in stealth mode.

Being of course a full blown gear geek I couldn't resist the feel and look of having the binoculars attached to the head gear. It was comfortable to wear and with the ability of a pushbutton makes this a hands free operation. And should the binoculars get in your way, you can simply flip them up and out of the line of vision. Great for those in dark nerf battles.

The lens is 26mm and is housed in a compact housing making the whole unit very light to wear. All Night Owl lenses are also coated specifically for nighttime viewing to further enhance light gathering and image brightness and I was amazed at the clarity and vision these gave in total darkness. Overall i would give these a rating of 8 out of 10 for clarity and detail.

So if you are looking for high end performance in night vision optics but can afford a set up in price from the eyeclops then you should consider the Night Owl Tactical Binocular Goggles They may be more expensive then the eyeslops but in performance you can't beat it and with a price tag of around $500 bucks they still fall into my category for cheap night vision.

Bushnell Night Vision Goggle with Headgear is a great unti for the price. Again at around 500 bucks these are another great choice to consider for the budget concious gadget geek. Featuring a compact design and great optics I found that the bushnell offered superior vision even in the lowest of light conditions.

Ideal for camping, caving and observing all the wildlife at night this unit performed really well. Of course it was equally suited to the task of my favorite pasttime, night time nerf wars. walking around with it took some getting used to, but I can't complain, since the quality and clarity was exceptional.
