IF YOU DON'T LIVE IN NY DON'T PANIC - THEY DELIVER...

It all started with find Droste on a Supermarket shelf in the Bronx

As long as I can remember I was in search of the best chocolates.

As a teenager, I discovered a periodical called "The Chocolate News" and immediately subscribed to it.

When the first issue came, to my "utter" delight, it was a cocoa colored wonder that had a chocolate smell and was filled with recipes and other information.

I could tell that the regular chocolate bars, even beloved ones, just didn't cut it for me.

I discovered Droste Cocoa on the shelf of a supermarket and after that, there was no turning back.

One of the perks of living in New York City is that you can find a great selection of chocolates.

Of course, I should have moved to Belgium when I had the chance, but why talk about regrets.

A few years ago on 18th Street in New York, I was thrilled to discover "The Chocolate Show". It takes place every year and has world-class chocolates from all over the globe.

The first year we stood on a line that went around a block or two before we wised up and bought tickets online.

The most intense part of the Chocolate Show is seeing all the Chocolate Fashions.

Yes, there are real designers who make outfits totally out of chocolate (there are sculptures as well). The day before the show real models wear these fashions. I have a few photos to show you.

While the fashion show isn't really my favorite part, I must say the designers are extremely creative and some of the outfits are incredible.

The first thing I do is rush over to Jaques Torres to get my fix of his hot chocolate.

For those of you who thought Bloomingdale's in New York was just a fancy department store, ignore all of that and head to the sixth floor to try Martines ...

Another must have is Chalet de Masion. They have a chocolate truffle that is out of this world.

Look, don't get me wrong, I've been in search of my favorite candy bar, "Snow King" for years now... I was brought up in Krum's Candy Store in the Bronx... and I have fond memories of my holloween stash.

This isn't about fancy chocolate for some sort of snob appeal. I really picked my top three. If you can experience some great Chocolate it's worth it!!!

If you don't live in New York - don't panic - most places can ship to you.
