Christmas Gifts I Have Given My Mom

Let Me Know Which Ones You Think Are The Best!

I have listed below some of the gifts that my family and I have either given my Mom or gifts that I have on my list to give her over the next few gift giving occasions (not just for Christmas). For those who don't know my Mom (or me) I have given the reasons why these particular gifts were chosen, in the hope that they inspire you to think of your Mom and what the best gift for her would be. My Mom is a very proud lady (like a lot of Moms) and would not be happy if she thought we were giving her something out of charity, so we have to pay particular attention to her and pay attention if she mentions anything she would like to have (even if it is a very obscure reference!) and give it to her as a gift on the next appropriate occasion.

1. Ferrero Rocher (Mom's favorite chocolates) - These are part of every gift we give her, or an "also gift". She loves Ferrero Rocher and even though they are not expensive she would never buy them for herself so whatever our main gift is there is always a small second gift of chocolates and she is always really thrilled to get them. I also know that if times were ever really tough, she would be delighted if her only gift was this box of chocolates!

2. Digital Photo Frame - My Mom has lots of old photos and literally thousands of photos on slides that are not in print form. Last year for Mother's Day we set about a covert operation (yes we did sneak into her house when she wasn't home and "borrow" the boxes of slides and photos) to enable us to scan the slides and photo's and set them up so that she could view the pictures again - her slide viewer had broken years ago and she hadn't seen many of the photo's for a very long time. She really loved that gift and I know the best part for her was that she could see all her old photo's again.

3. A TV - Just because she needed one! We bought a new TV and she really admired it. Her old one was really old (pre remote control days!) and even though it was on its last legs, we know she wouldn't buy one for herself.

4. A CD Player and CD's - My Mom lives alone and while she likes to sit and watch TV when she has time, she doesn't have it on all the time. We thought it would be nice for her to have something to listen to while she was in the kitchen cooking, for example and bought her a small portable CD Player and a few CD's that we knew she would like.

5. Christmas Decorations - IMy Mom is the biggest kid in our family and when it comes to Christmas this really holds true. We often buy her Christmas decorations as gifts when we travel or if we find something really special like a limited edition item, that we know she will enjoy taking out year after year.

6. Pearls - Mom always paid special attention to pearls whenever we were in a jewelry store. She had a set of imitation pearls that she wore but we thought the time had come to get her the real thing.

7. Gift Basket of Bath and Skincare Products - There is a brand of bath and skincare products my Mom loves and again even though they are not expensive, to her they are a luxury. Every now and again we try to stock her up with all the products she likes. We just buy a selection of the products and make up our own gift basket and she loves it. A ready made gift basket can be prettier and more convfenient than our effort!

8. Bonsai - My Mom loves the outdoors and the garden but can't get out there as much as she once could. We thought we would bring the garden in to her with a selection of bonsai plants to give her her very own indoor garden that she can enjoy and tinker away with. If your Mom is a keen gardener this is still a great idea to bring the outdoors indoors so to speak.

9. A Laptop - Now my Mom is not technically minded at all but we have family that we don't see often and when she discovered Skype she was absolutely amazed by it. We didn't buy her the fanciest laptop on the market, just one that we could set her up on Skype with, introduce her to Google and she also likes to play Solitaire! We tease her that we are sure she is playing Poker online when we are not there but to be honest, I am sure (pretty sure!) that that is too advanced for her!
